Brendan Rodgers has hit out at the decision to allow Kilmarnock’s goal to stand against Celtic today.

The hoops were leading 2-0 and looking likely to add to the scoreline when Greg Taylor tried to break down the left.

The defender was wrestled to the ground, Kilmarnock regained possession and switched the ball forward to Kyle Vassell who was fouled by Alistair Johnston.

Referee Matthew MacDermid waved play on, the ball was played to David Watson who took advantage of the space vacated by Taylor to fire his shot past Joe Hart into the net.

MacDermid did the right thing to play advantage when Vassell was fouled but with a full review of the goal Rodgers expected David Dickinson on VAR duty to bring play back to award Celtic a free kick close to the Kilmarnock penalty box.

Listening to the Celtic boss on Sportsound, the Daily Record reports Rodgers saying:

I don’t think it was a goal. In fairness to the referee he’s got his back to the play he doesn’t see it, the ball gets switched but if you watch it from the beginning of the move the young Kilmarnock player has Greg in hold position.

As soon as he swivels to go in behind, he’s brought to the floor. So the referee didn’t quite see it, however he has a fourth official and a VAR team that are assessing it.

I’m not sure where they were looking from, I hear they were looking from when the young guy played the ball out to Vassell. The actual foul was before that. And lo and behold they go up the other end and go into the space Greg leaves. We’re disappointed with that but it’s one of those things.

In the 82nd minute Taylor restored Celtic’s two goal advantage when he scored from a Matt O’Riley corner.

A lot of hun minded hacks hoping for the Champions to slip up today are now sh*tting themselves at the thought of their team going into the international break in 3rd place and 6 points behind 2nd place St Mirren

Hence tonight stories every where about flags and wee Del having a pop at Hatate

A team that are under severe heavy pressure

    Can they cope ?

Scottish VAR doing what it’s employed to do… deny Celtic pk and give any decision against Celtic. Absolute polar opposite of what they do for the tribute act. And they STILL can’t stop us…

What an absolute thrashing we gave Kilmarnock today. We literally toyed with them at times.
Their goal should not have stood for any of two perfectly good reasons. Take your pick. Two blatant fouls in the build up, both shockingly ignored by probably a referee destined to become one of the worst in Scotland very soon.
The VAR change of mind on the penalty was a terrible call. In fact, it was only after seeing it on the VAR monitor it became clear that it was a stonewall penalty!
But despite this incredibly poor performance by the referee, this was not only men against boys, but men against infants. The gap was embarrassing.
This was three going on nine or ten.
As always of course, according to McInnes, he embarrasses himself with statements after a game his team should be charged admission money for!
I hope he gets the job across the city. He fits the culture and has a ready made list of excuses.
Have you noticed he has NEVER lost to Celtic by being outclassed?

Thank Goodness someone at Celtic (Brendan) has spoken out about referees in Scotland for once of on this occasion The VAR officials…

Looks like that guy Dickinson tried his level best to cheat Celtic big time yesterday –

Thankfully he failed on the day but they have been very successful at not failing over many decades !
