Celtic have been linked with signing yet another central midfielder, this time Jung Ho-Yeon of Korean side Gwangju.
In the current calendar year Celtic have signed Tomoki Iwata, Odin Thiago Holm, Kwon Hyeok-Kyu and at the end of the summer Paulo Bernardo on loan from Benfica.
Only Holm has been given any worthwhile game time under Brendan Rodgers which would cast doubt over the Jung story or over the future prospects of the other midfielders signed by two different manager. Celtic also have Yosuke Ideguchi out on loan.
Celtic have monitored Gwangju FC’s Jung Ho-Yeon and he is of interest to the Scottish giants.

There is little doubt that Celtic are actively scouting across Asia but there are bound to be questions asked about signing another midfielder that has yet to earn a full international cap.
Since Rodgers came in Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley have signed new long term contracts and although they could be sold midfield appears to be an area that Celtic are well covered in.
With three months to go there are bound to be plenty of other reports of transfer interest but claims from Asia over signing targets have to be treated seriously.

I’d be more worried if we are NOT looking to strengthen any part of the squad. Not all transfers will work out of course, true for Celtic as it is for Real Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern Munich. I don’t know why we signed Ideguchi, never looked like being able to hold down a starting berth.
Iwata has done little wrong, been played out of position a few times, but we do need strength in depth. Still lacking Height & Power in midfield, always feel the trio of CalMac, Reo & Matt isn’t quite right.
But I am sure we will continue to improve under Brendan, both as individual players and more importantly as a team.
With three mid-fielders and McGregor and Hatate certain starters, who else will start?
When they took Turnbull out the team, goals dried up!
Squad Rotation seems to be the watch-word!
