Jonny McFarlane has been sent out to douse speculation that Frank Lampard is close to be appointed as Micky Beale’s successor.
The former England star has the right background and values but even bears can see through a managerial record that saw him sacked by Everton in January then win one match in 12 as caretaker boss at Chelsea.
With no obvious candidate emerging that the bears can get behind most media outlets are concentrating on the prospects of Lampard and Kevin Muscat who is being profiled as Ange II.
