Diego Simeone isn’t a fan of the traditional exchange of handshakes between managers in the UK at the end of a match.
The Atletico Madrid boss had a very awkward moment at the end of the 2-2 draw last night at Celtic Park.
After 12 years in the job the Argentinian is just as emotional as he was in day one as he pushes at the boundaries to gain an advantage for his side on the park.
Down to 10 men after a red card to De Paul in the 82nd minute Simeone couldn’t hide his anger and frustration at a head knock to Antonie Griezmann that would see his side go down to eight outfield players for a passage of play.
It is that level of detail that creates winners, 10 minutes later with a point secured Simeone had no interest in a gesture with the man he’d just spent 90 plus minutes trying to sink.

Discussing a similar incident with Jurgen Klopp in 2021, Simeone told The Independent:
I don’t like the greeting after the match because they are the emotions of two sides in different emotional minds.
I know in the UK it is a custom and a sign of respect but I don’t share it and I don’t like the falseness it may include so I behave how I feel.
I don’t know Klopp as a person very well but I know he is a great coach who has done great work at every club he has been at.
The two men will be on the touchline at the Wanda Metropolitano on November 7.
