I was not happy- Clement in fresh attack on Beale’s training ground reputation

Ten minutes into his first match in charge Philippe Clement watched another of his stars go down with a mystery injury.

With the home match against Hibs barely underway, Borna Barisic decided to sit on the turf, rubbed the top of his left thigh and pretty quickly was back in the home dressing room getting treatment while Ridvan Yilmaz was sent on as his replacement.

Barisic managed to play 80 minutes for Croatia at home to Turkey and an hour away to Wales over the last fortnight, his contract expires in May.

Unfortunately for Clement Yilmaz wasn’t named in Micky Beale’s Europa League squad, on Thursday the depleted Ibrox squad travel to face Sparta Prague.

Just before the hour mark Scott Wright pulled up and was replaced by Todd Cantwell, like Barisic the former Aberdeen man is in the UEFA squad.

After the match The Sun reports Clement saying:

We’ll look tomorrow morning how everyone is. I was not happy after ten minutes that I need to change already with Borna. But it’s how it is and we will see how it is. Also, Scott could not play the 90 minutes so we will see.

On Friday Clement claimed that the length and style of Micky Beale’s training sessions were a contributory factor to the club’s lengthy injury list.

Rabbi Matondo, Jose Cifuentes, Kieran Dowell, Zak Lovelace and Tom Lawrence were missing yesterday through injury with Cantwell and Danilo coming off the bench yesterday but unable to play the full 90 minutes. Kemar Roofe is still drawing a wage.
