After nine rounds of fixtures that have seen Celtic play away at five of the toughest venues in the league Brendan Rodgers has opened up a seven point lead with only glimpses of finding top form.
With Hibs away and St Mirren at home completing the first round of fixtures Celtic are looking in a very strong position- and likely to reinforce that as the home and away matches balance out before the winter break on January 2.
WIth a slight wariness after an international break,
just getting the 3 points today away to Hertz was the objective.
But, our quality of play today – at times – was looking extremely promising.
The opening goal was a thing of beauty: the movement off the ball,
the accurate chipped pass, the brilliant – and over the shoulder –
volley into the bottom corner of the net was just top class.
O’Riley made that look easy: he is developing into a quite different player.
And fair play: whilst Palma can be a bit ‘patchy’, that was a top class pass
and it indicates that he certainly has a lot more to offer the team as he grows
in confidence.
