Celtic fans raced to back up Brendan Rodgers questioning the random nature of the SPFL fixture list.
A fairly innocent question about switching the December 27 match at Dens Park to the previous day produced a very unexpected reply.
Almost from nowhere the Celtic boss revealed that for the seventh season running the hoops will be away from home in the first fixture after Christmas Day, funnily enough the Ibrox Tribute Act have had a home match after enjoying the festivities although Rodgers left that aspect unsaid.

There are plenty of dubious aspects of Scottish football discussed online but the post Christmas fixture isn’t one that has been raised by fans.
This season’s first batch of fixtures has seen Celtic visit four of the five teams that finished in last season’s top six, this afternoon the champions return to Edinburgh for the second time in a week.
The Ibrox club have yet to travel east along the M8 while Celtic have been at Hearts, Hibs and Livingston.
If the Celtic boss is starting to delve into the stats there could be some interesting times ahead- especially if he is alerted to one club that is on a 64 match run of not having a penalty awarded against them in the SPFL- or that recently went four years between players being sent off at home in a domestic match.
a run of away games at start of season while they had home games, now we get the away games for 7th year in row post xmas , it’s absolutely blatant but will mean winning league is that much sweeter knowing how much help they’ve tried to give them a hand

Only a 1 in 128 chance. Positively likely compared to e.g. the penalties conceded stats.

Rangers have also been very ‘lucky’ to not concede a penalty in the league for 64 league games in a row. One day it’ll come out.

But is there commonality between the first fixture after Xmas Day and how many games into the season we are over that period of time? Because if there is (& I haven’t checked), then the fact we have played the first game of the season at home for 11 of the last 12 season – flag day – will have played a part in that. Sky also influence the fixtures and will want a ‘big draw’ fixture to increase their audience on a public holiday and ‘Celtic away at a far-flung team with a small ground’ fits the bill perfectly. Sky will never publicly admit this but we are a bigger draw than Sevco, and their influence over fixtures is bigger than people realise – since the dawn of the Premier League era Manchester United and Tottenham always play each other around New Years Day, and even this season guess when they play each other? The first league game after New Year…..
I should be a Celtic FC spokesperson…I’ve been highlighting this for years…and I hope we don’t stop at the Christmas cheating…Now is the time to expose this whole fixture corruption.
I get your point about Xmas and Sky…but 7 years in a row isn’t good..Oh and the password for the Computer that does the fixtures is…Ftp1690WAtp…True…!!
Not sure about the rest of it Terence – But I think I’ve decoded the WATP bit !

I’ve been saying this for years. It’s disgraceful behaviour from Scottish football’s governing bodies. Do they all think were stupid? It’s playing every season with one hand tied behind our backs. The amount of games they’ve played at home already this season will hopefully come back to haunt them. This needs called out for the blatant cheating that it is. Watch the referring/var decisions they get to cut our points. After the fiasco of Beales spending/compensation.
SCOTTISH FOOTBALL IS CORRUPT FOR THE BIGGEST CHEATS IN THE SPFL AND YOU HAVE A BUNCH OF COWARDS ON THE CELTIC BOARD THAT SAY NOTHING AND LET THEY CORRUPT SCUM AT HAMPDEN WALK ALL OVER THE TAP OF US AND IT WILL EVEN GET WORSE FOR CELTIC FC 1888..CORRUPT CORRUPT CORRUPT CORRUPT SFA.SPFL FOR OLDCO AND NEWCO
I don’t know anything about Dermott Desmond apart from the fact he is a billionaire and to become one of those, I guess, you must be able to stick up for yourself but week in week out he is shafted by the little men who run Scottish football.
It’s a mystery as to why he puts up with it. “The bunnet” would have had this sorted by now.
