A report in The Telegraph claims that Frank Lampard is open to discussing the prospect of replacing Michael Beale at Ibrox.

Matt Laws and Sam Wallace are both well connected and have put their name to the report.

Lampard would tick most boxes for John Bennett and James Bisgrove but after two sackings already this year the former England star has to be very careful over his next move.

The Telegraph doesn’t make any claims of talks being at an advanced stage or being the front runner but his name alone is bound to excite CEO Bisgrove who was selling crypto deals and hospitality packages for the Sky Blue Lounge as recently as last season.

Covering the Ibrox vacancy The Telegraph reports:

Frank Lampard is open to speaking to Rangers about their vacant manager position as the club starts the process of finding a permanent replacement for Michael Beale.

Former Chelsea and Everton head coach Lampard is believed to be among the initial list of candidates Rangers are hoping to speak to before settling on a shortlist after Graham Potter made it clear he is not interested in the post.

Other names in the frame are AZ Alkmaar coach Pascal Jansen, who was born in London and has dual English and Dutch nationality, and Philippe Clement, who most recently coached Monaco before being sacked in June.

Former Rangers defender Kevin Muscat, who is currently in charge of Japanese club Yokohama F Marinos, has also been linked with the succeeding Beale but it is the name of Lampard that is perhaps the most intriguing.

It would be difficult to imagine any credible manager assessing Beale’s squad and the club finances and genuinely believing that they could get the better of Celtic. Four defeats to the hoops in 43 matches meant the end of the road for Beale.

Following his appearance on Sky Sports Monday Night Football being linked with the Ibrox vacancy will help Lampard’s profile with a job in the Championship probably the target although if Bisgrove appeals to his ego a deal could be done to parade him as the next Messiah at Ibrox following the usual script.

I see the daily sevco have an interview with the BIGOT Kyle Laughpharty, apparently Steven Davis is in the Big Wattie Tattie mould,if that’s the case the sevco klub would have him signed up on a big long time contract.

Man ,would I like to see the expression on Lampard’s face if they interview him about the manager’s job and he asks what is the size of the budget he would be working with ? I suspect there would be ‘walking away ‘ on his part …. very quickly !
