Sky Sports push Celtic for reaction to Green Brigade

Anthony Joseph is taking a very keen interest in the fall-out between the Celtic board and the Green Brigade.

As a journalist/reporter there is a fine line to be drawn between your personal interests and what is news.

Having a deep interest in a subject is very advantageous but in the general beat of sport hamstring injuries and transfer speculation is the currency ahead of disputes about banners and politics.

The Celtic board love to play the political card when it suits them, claiming that they are more than a club and happy to play The Fields of Athenrye and Let The People Sing, two songs popular with their supporters but with no direct connection to Brendan Rodgers, Kyogo Furuhashi or Luis Palma.

Similarly Grace has been played over the PA system and sung pre-match live on the pitch but a statement from Celtic on Monday washed their hands of any political content inside the stadium.

A decade ago Peter Lawwell would have been happy to get in front of the cameras to promote himself, these days as club Chairman he settles for second hand messaging to a select group of reporters that will never comment adversely on club matters.

Being based in London Joseph has less reliance on Celtic in the course of his job but his persistence on this issue will no doubt be noted inside the club.
