The Daily Record has picked up on the comforting prospect of Graeme Souness getting an untitled role at Ibrox.

The former Liverpool boss was brought into the recruitment process to find Micky Beale’s successor which took the attention away from John Bennett and James Bisgrove.

Unhelpfully Jim White revealed that Frank Lampard was Souness’ choice as manager but that detail has been airbrushed with a campaign well underway to find Souness a role at Ibrox to give fans a comforting throwback and reinforce the continuity lie.

Like Souness, Nigel Spackman has been untouchable in management since 2006 but the former Rangers midfielder wants Souness pulling the strings at every level of the 2012 Tribute Act.

Gushingly the Record reports:

Nigel Spackman reckons the Rangers board should let Graeme Souness call the shots as the club legend gears up for a stunning Ibrox return.

Record Sport revealed how the Gers hero had a major role recruitment process ahead of the appointment of Philippe Clement last week. And Souness is now tipped for a more regular Ibrox role as an official club advisor.

Spackman – who signed up for the Souey Rangers revolution in 1989 – is convinced it would be a shrewd move to get his old gaffer back on board – and he should be given the run of the place.

He told Record Sport: “It was just an amazing period Graeme kicked off at Rangers. It was such an incredible period and wonderful to be part of it. When you look at the knowledge and the respect he commands in world football, I think it would be a great move to have him back at the club in any capacity.

When it comes to the owners, I would be saying, ‘whatever Graeme wants us to do, let’s do it’. Graeme has a wealth of experience in football. He’s obviously been involved in football for his entire life at every single level.

And even in recent years, he has been doing a lot of TV work away from the UK in European games. We’ve worked together a lot doing all kinds of games from the Spanish, Italian and German leagues, the Champions and Europa League. He’s built up a lot of knowledge on the current game.”

After 28 matches for Rangers Souness pushed through the £8m transfer of Jean Alain Boumsong for Newcastle, six months earlier the defender was available as a free agent with no interest from the EPL.

Getting Souness involved provides the Ibrox board a ready made Caretaker for Bennett and Bisgrove when the Clement Revolution comes to a conclusion.

    In any capacity at ibrox,

the only value Sounesss would add is his link to the previous club.

Someone who can remind the bears about the ‘good times’,

Despite being 70 himself, Souness would still have the biggest ego

at sevco. Just a matter of time before he would have a bust up

with a player, or the manager, or the Blue Room.

Fingers crossed he does join sevco then! 🙂

Begging for a job at Liebrox –

A live human bidet licking the rectum of ‘Souey’

He can lick his ‘Richard’ as well as at that 1-0 game v Blackburn Rovers we chanted…

    Souness – Penissss – Souness – Penisss – all night long !

  • Dando says:

What a shock the original Rangers legend is in for, unlike the previous club there will be no unlimited transfer money from RBS, no imperfectly registered players, no sugar daddies…. only the ability to spend a fiver to every Celtic’s tenner !!!!!
