John Beaton was upto his usual ‘inconsistencies’ as he took charge of Celtic’s narrow win over St Mirren.

At Ibrox on Sunday a succession of soft and ridiculous free-kicks went against Hearts to assist Philippe Clement’s side secure a much needed victory.

Last night St Mirren took full advantage of Beaton’s past record to waste time and run the clock down at every opportunity with Zak Hemmings delivering a masterclass.

Around the half our mark the St Mirren keeper killed two minutes when he went down with a mystery calf injury that required treatment just as Celtic were pushing hard for a second goal.

Towards the end of the first half Hemmings took the ball towards the corner of the penalty box with Kyogo Furuhashi realising that it could be a long night if he didn’t close the keeper down.

Twice Marcus Fraser obstructed the Celtic striker, the second time he fell to the ground which was just the opportunity that the Lanarkshire based referee needed.

Rather than award Celtic an in-direct free kick for obstruction it was a free kick to St Mirren with Kyogo booked and Beaton using up another minute to deny Celtic the chance to score.

At the 2021 Celtic AGM Ian Bankier described the deep concern he had over Scottish referees, in June Beaton’s efforts over last season were rewarded by being put in charge of the Scottish Cup Final.

Lol all you better get used to it, we ain’t winning the league this year..
The decisions from the sevco game at the weekend proved that as did the decisions again from the same ref last night.
We are one defeat away from the lead going down to 2 points, it will stay like that until sevco come to our place they will CHEAT sorry beat us on that day go top of the league and never look back, with them getting every decision in their favour from then on in until the last game of the season, they will be champions there is no doubt about.
By then it will to late for PROTESTS and BOYCOTTING of any sort as sevco ride into the sunset with automatic qualification for the champions league and the best part of £50 million in their back pocket.
Hell slap it into the DAFTIES putting up with it, but there will plenty of crocodile tears about an INJUSTICE.

So true scud , if bankier was so concerned about refs why has he not got the balls with the rest of his entourage to cause havoc about these decisions will he ask the powers that be why kyogo was booked last night, don’t think so the Bawless board are a complete joke and something needs done about them.

He also totally ignored a forward player late in the game blocking Taylor from getting back to make a challenge and Stmirren. Might have created a scoring chance because of this.
Also booked Yang for nothing as he never even made any contact with the keeper.
