David Turnbull is reportedly a January transfer option for AC Milan.
Scottish players are certainly in vogue in Serie A but it is a stretch to imagine the Celtic midfielder moving to one of their top clubs.
Turnbull’s style and knack of finding the goal could be attractive to some clubs in Italy but with the report mentioning an 8m euros transfer fee in January there are a few holes in the story.

This player – who yesterday played part of the match in Lazio-Celtic in the Champions League – plays as a central midfielder and is reminiscent of former Inter player Ivan Perisic in his movements . Different role, but he moves like him. Raised in Motherwell , he is good in managing the ball, in running the ball. He is good at blocking and initiating action. He kicks from distance, with both feet, both with the right and with the left. Tense football, polite and clean foot. He has a lot strength when loading the shot from 20-30 meters.
He has broken verbally with Celtic and his contract expires on 31 May 2024 . Signing him in January would cost 8 million euros, maximum 10 . Otherwise Milan will have to hope to be chosen next summer from a very vast list of suitors. Scottish international, like Bologna ‘s Lewis Ferguson , with different characteristics. Modern, complete midfielder: he scored 7 goals in 11 league games for Celtic. Very interesting profile that many Italian clubs are looking at, including Milan.
With his contract expiring at the end of this season Turnbull is in limbo, normally Celtic like to get contract issues tied up before players enter the final season of their deal.
During the summer Mark Lawwell added Odin Thiago Holm and Kwon Hyeok-kyu to the squad then topped things off by bringing in Paulo Bernardo on loan from Benfica.
This season, alongside Greg Taylor, Scott Bain and Mikey Johnston, Turnbull has one of the four Association trained slots in the Celtic squad.
Letting that guy go will come back to haunt us. Way too many of our fans are going the EPL way and only value foreign ‘bling signings’ over indigenous players. Shades of Paul Lambert, who cost us £2m (back when that was a big transfer fee) 18 months after we could have had him for the square root of f***-all.
