Brendan Rodgers has described Kyogo Furuhashi’s head injury as a nasty blow.

Early in the second half of Celtic’s 6-0 win over Aberdeen the forward was the victim of a sickening clash when Slobodan Rubezic headed into the back of Kyogo’s head.

It looked like the striker had been knocked out before his head struck the turf but after a couple of minutes treatment he was able to stand up with Oh Hyeon-gyu coming off to the bench to score two late goals.

In normal circumstances a 6-0 win would be something to savour but from the moment Kyogo was struck there was a shadow cast over the remainder of the game.

At 16:57 on the BBC Scotland match blog they reported:

FT: Celtic 6-0 Aberdeen

Brendan Rodgers calls Kyogo’s head knock a “nasty blow” and indicates the striker will not go away with Japan for international duty.

Watching Sky Sports, The National reports Rodgers saying:

It was not great for him. Obviously it was a nasty blow for him so he will not travel to Japan as he will need to recover. The medical team will make sure he is okay. I have not seen it back but it looked a real sore one.

Celtic don’t play again until November 25 when they host Motherwell looking to go 11 points clear at the top of the Premiership table.

Already without Reo Hatate, Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda for around a month the last thing that Rodgers requires is Kyogo joining them on the sidelines with eight matches to be played during December.

You do that at Newarthill Cross on a Saturday night, you’re looking at 4 years. Why that thug wasn’t sent off is a travesty. To see the ugly psycho smirking and laughing afterwards made my blood boil.
