Marco Tilio is being tipped for a January loan move out of Celtic Park.

The winger was signed from Melbourne City at the end of June but was already injured and has yet to make the substitute bench never mind make his hoops debut.

Luis Palma and Yang Hyun-Jun were signed during the same transfer window and have made inroads with the Honduran especially impressive.

Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda are expected to return from injury during December which makes the next couple of weeks crucial if Tilio is to make inroads towards a career at Celtic.

In the Daily Record transfer specialist Scott Burns reveals:

Celtic forgotten man Marco Tilio will consider a January loan if he doesn’t get first-team action before January.

The 22-year-old made his first appearance of the season for the Australian under-23s when he came off the bench to help them beat Qatar 2-1 in a friendly at the weekend. Tilio, who has seven full caps for the Socceroos, is hoping his involvement with the Olympicroos will see him kick on his return to Celtic in a bid to break into Brendan Rodgers’ first-team.

If it doesn’t then he would be open to a possible loan deal. The weekend was a moment of rare action for Tilio as he has still to make a first-team appearance for Celtic. The winger arrived at Celtic from Melbourne City in the summer but an early injury left him sidelined and playing catch-up.

Starting with Saturday’s home match against Motherwell Celtic have 11 matches up until the winter break which begins after the January 2 trip to St Mirren.

Under Ange Postecoglou Celtic would regularly bring on two wingers between the 60th and 70th minute but Brendan Rodgers hasn’t really had that option due to injuries.

On the back of his appearances for the Australian Olympic squad the next few weeks look critical for Tilio’s hopes of making an impression at Celtic.
