Michael Nicholson and Peter Lawwell were in slapstick mode at today’s Celtic AGM as they addressed serious matters raised by shareholders.

Previously Lawwell was CEO at these meetings, after taking a break over the last two years he was back today as Chairman harping on about the world class aspirations that the club has.

That is the club that has won one Champions League group stage match in 10 years and not won a UEFA knock out tie since season 2003/04, the season that Lawwell came in as CEO.

Groomed by his master Nicholson is very much Lawwell Lite, fully compliant to the SFA and well aware that rocking the boat could result in unwelcome details from 2012 coming to light.

Celtic are currently up against a domestic rival that has gone 67 matches without having a penalty awarded against them in the SPFL. Last season Celtic were awarded seven penalties and conceded the same amount. Their city business partners were awarded 10 with none conceded.

The performance of John Beaton backed up by Willie Collum at Ibrox on January 2 summed up the matter as Fashion Sakala dived for a penalty while Conor Goldson used both hands to stop a shot from Carl Starfelt.

Cause for concern for the CEO and club Chairman? Not a chance, bit of banter for them like they have in the Directors Room with their mates Douglas Park, John Bennet, Stewart Robertson and James Bisgrove.

First up was Nicholson.

One shareholder detailed the recent win over St Mirren when Kyogo Furuhasi was manhandled then dumped on the ground. The incident was missed by the referee, his assistant and the VAR.

The shareholder asked what should happen? ‘Penalty to Rangers’ laughed the CEO of a club with turnover of £119m, most of the elderly shareholders found it hilarious.

Smooth Mick then trotted out the well worn line about working quietly with the SFA to improve refereeing and VAR issues. The same as last year and next year.

Later on another shareholder brought up John Beaton, his notorious performance at Ibrox in December 2018 when Alfredo Morelos was given licence to attack and assault Celtic player without even being booked, or retrospective action from the SFA.

Keen not to be outdone by his Mini Me, Lawwell started talking about the last time Rangers had a penalty awarded against them John Greig was the culprit. Greig retired from playing in 1978.

On Saturday Steven McLean, brother of a former Rangers player will referee the match between Celtic and Motherwell with laughing and nodding David Dickinson on VAR, no doubt with his family rooting for an away win.

Why don’t the 2 Lawwells and Nicholson just piss off and let us get people in charge who will fight our corner. Come back The Bunnet please.

    Are they worth it? No!

  • Scud Missile says:

Lol you get what you paid for,and the shareholders that showed up to that Circus act today got what they deserved the middle of a doughnut regarding answers.

Meanwhile Coco the clown aka LIEWELL and his lackies having a right good chuckle at the fans and shareholders expense, laughing all the way to bank.

You get what you pay for a nickel&dime board presiding over a nickel&dime team.
They ain’t calling out sevco or the refs or the SFA as they are SHIT SCARED of opening up a MASSIVE CAN OF WORMS, hence sevco getting away with what they want.

Why don`t any Celtic fans ask…

“Why did Peter Lawwell and the rest of the PLC agree to put old Rangers £49 price onto new club Sevco tickets after Sevco got promoted in 2016 to deceitfully play along with the big lie, probably comitting fraud as well, to go along with the Establishment claim that old Rangers didn`t die?”

Who among the supporters leaders is going to inform their fellow Celts that they have been mugged since 2016 when Sevco got promoted and the PLC created a media circus by bringing in Brendan as manager so that fans wouldn`t notice that they had been mugged by Lawwell and the PLC?

Celtic fans have been holding Rosemary`s baby since 2016 and 60,000 Celts are totally unaware of this!

Can you imagine the Kelly`s and White`s trying to carry out this deceit and get away with it?

Well the Jungle would have pointed it out and so to would Gerry McNee, but those two arent there anymore.

To be critical it could be claimed that since Gerry McNee retired in 2008 we`ve had 15 years of `empty heads` RES12 wouldn`t have been derailed if Gerry McNee still had his paper column at that time, Gerry McNee would have exposed the SFA and the Celtic PLC coverup of the old Rangers / new Rangers same price of tickets grift in 2016 inmho.

That`s why a succession of Celtic boards, Kelly & White, McCann, Desmond and Lawwell, all of them and a lot of fans as well all hated McNee who was the only journalist who properly critiqued the Celtic board without being brought up as a Rangers supporter.

I have been trying to highlight this bare faced mugging of Celtic fans since 2016 by posting on CQN and Sentinel Celts blogs and for SEVEN YEARS my posts have been instantly deleted, or mysteriously disappeared before they were posted?

Does Peter Lawwell run Sentinel Celts as well as CQN?

If not then why the instant deletions about this mugging as well as no articles about it the guy running SC has been asking posters for articles since the the day the blog started, I have sent dozens and none get selected without any explanation which suggests that Sentinel Celts as well as CQN are PLC cosy blogs, if not then why don`t they prove me wrong? They`ve had SEVEN YEARS, full of deletions and denials for heavens sake!

If the Celtic board can carry out their deceit without even a relevant question being allowed to be asked then that is a suggestion that fans are happy with the board, warts and all.

The only time that the board get uppity is when they are throwing Celtic fans under the bus or bragging about the balance sheet in a ONE HORSE ENVIRONMENT.

The executive and their succulent lamb compliant lapdog blogs make me sick.

God bless Joe McHugh and all at Video Celts. HH

Kev…Isn’t it strange how people have different recollections of things…I was sitting in my seat …way back when…and it was pointed out to me…that sitting right behind me was…Mr.McNee…( He was in a ” spare ” seat…as a spectator…not reporter…)….By this time he was personna non grata with the support…and I told him I’d prefer if he sat elsewhere…To his credit …he did.

      Kev,l feel you,bro.
A wee bit of advice if you want your voice heard……Add comments on the site called The Celtic Blog written by the outstanding James Forrest (no,not the player of the same name.)
I have had comments unpublished on a lot of pro Celtic sites, even Philmac doesn’t always re-post my offerings which really disappoints me as he continually goes on about free speech.
There are a few sites that will get the word out….. Never let them forget we know what went on in 2012 and always let the parasites on the Celtic board know we are monitoring them.
      TAL !!!l

Editor: Any comment highlighting and exposing Celtic’s role in 2012 is always welcome on this site, articles welcome as well.

  • Eddie McKelveys Capri says:

Peter Lawwell joined as Executive Director without any requirement for a recruitment process having previously been Financial Controller under Terry Cassidy. Immediately set about reducing the cost base with approx 50 redundancies paying down debt and readying the business for investment/ acquisition.

Martin O’Neil upon meeting the new ED left soon after to care for his ill wife famously stating “Celtic fans should get used to living in the slow lane”

Peter Lawwell successfully sold the business to Dermot Desmond, guaranteeing perpetual dividends, and paving the way for The Irish Billionaire to be the only one of his kind to make money from a football club ownership and arguably securing his own job for life. The business has paid Desmond and Lawwell millions since.

The Desmond and Lawwell’s families control over the business continues to this day with their sons in de facto board positions within the business and Peter Lawwells deputy now in position of CEO whilst Peter retains influence as Chairman.

You think Michael O’Leary gives a damn what his customers think? Do you think Dermot Desmond and Peter Lawwell do? ????
