Joe Harper expects Aberdeen to hold out for a transfer fee of at least £10m for Bojan Miovski.

In midweek it was reported that the striker would be a January target for Celtic, if an offer of £5m was to come in it would be prove very difficult for Chairman Dave Cormack to turn away.

Miovski has scored regularly since moving to Aberdeen in the summer of 2022 but no-one from outside of Glasgow is going to be sold for £10m any time soon.

MTK Budapest accepted a fee of £500,000 to allow the Macedonian striker to move to Scotland but Harper seems to think that his value has rocketed on the back of scoring goals for the Dons.

In his P&J column the former Scotland striker explains:

If any club wants to sign Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski in the January transfer window, I think they should have to pay at least £10 million.

Celtic are reportedly weighing up a January move for Aberdeen’s leading scorer. If they want to make a move for Miovski, they better be prepared to dig deep and splash out a seven-figure transfer fee.

If Miovski was to move on, I don’t think it would be to Celtic. I am sure there will be clubs in England and overseas interested in the 24-year-old striker.

Miovski has not only proven he can score in Scotland, he has also shown he can hit the back of the net in Europe.

That is a valuable commodity which will have clubs across Europe taking notice.

Hopefully Miovski will stay at Pittodrie beyond the January transfer window.

The key aspect is Aberdeen are in the driving seat as Miovski is contracted to the club until summer 2026 – and the Dons do not have to sell their star striker.

If they do, it will be on their terms for big money.

Brendan Rodgers faces a dilemma in January with Kyogo Furuhashi, Oh Hyeon-gyu and Daizen Maeda likely to be missing for three SPFL matches including away matches at Aberdeen and Hibs.

There are no obvious alternatives in the Celtic squad but the need for a striker could be very short lived when his squad reassembles after the Asian Cup.

As far as I’m concerned their asking for £4m is taking the piss, but £10m? Come on now…the guy has done zilch in his career and is worth £1-1.5m at most right now. He’s not exactly banging in hat-tricks in every game against the shite of the SPFL is he? How can anyone think the guy is the answer for the CL? At least Morbius the Vampi…I mean Lawrence Shankland would tick a squad requirement box at the least, if I had to pick one…though I’d rather neither, frankly.

£10 million joe you’ve been listening to.they sevco fans at liebrox honest he’s not worth anywhere near that not even half of it surely BR knows a good striker he can get eh.

Wee fat Joe Harper. FFS I thought he was dead.

He’s obviously brain dead. Miovski’s worth about a quarter of what he’s quoting, but tubby has at least got his name in the papers.

    Stay aff the tablets Joe.

  • Captain Swing says:

I think Joe just writes crowd-pleasing articles. His assertion that “Aberdeen are in the driving seat” is as ludicrous as his valuation…. It’s obviously been so long since Aberdeen last had a player that anybody else actually wanted to sign that he’s forgotten how players and their agents can ‘agitate’ for moves!

I recall with some amusement that in the late 80s when the dubious ownership of Hibs were ‘diversifying’ by purchasing a load of pubs in England that one fanzine wag caustically observed “ironically, in 1974, Hibs paid Everton £120,000 for a pub on two legs – Joe Harper”!

  • Scud Missile says:

Lol Joe Harper a thought he was pan breed,as for him saying Miovski for nothing less than £10 million,a think he must be stuck in a trip full LSD from the 70s.

  • MartinKennea says:

He’s NEVER worth 10 million . 2 million at the most . They know Celtic are sitting on money and they’re trying it on . Sure they done the same with Scott McKenna. And how much did he end up going to Forrest for ?
