As fans chanted for his ‘removal’ Peter Lawwell was posted missing from his favoured seat in the Directors Box at Celtic Park.

The club Chairman has developed a very thick skin over the years knowing that he is disliked by a very large section of supporters but rather than take a back seat after the disastrous 20/21 season he got his boy a job in Recruitment then returned as Chairman to keep an eye on things.

These days his media appearances are almost non-existent but his stamp is all over the club, boasting of having £72m in the bank in preparation for failing to reach the group stage of the Champions League.

After two seasons in the lucrative group stage driven exclusively by Ange Postecoglou it looks like a return to Thursday night’s in the Europa League or UEFA Conference is on the cards, under Lawwell’s Disco Lights.

Should Peter and Mark Lawwell be removed from their jobs?

Yes, enough is enough

Yes, enough is enough

No, big Peter will save us

No, big Peter will save us

Three season’s ago the team imploded behind closed doors, when fans protested Lawwell put the barriers up around the stadium, denying fans with paving stones dedicated to the memory of family members the opportunity for a quiet moment of thought.

With Christmas round the corner the tills at the Celtic Stores will be quieter than expected, for many fans there is no trust left with two members of the Lawwell family dominating the club.

Next Saturday Celtic host Livingston, some on the record comments from the club Chairman would be a start but whispers to his messengers to blame everyone else is far more likely based on previous experiences.

Too many of our fans are easily bought with 72m in the bank etc, they will spend a few quid in January and they will be happy again. Lawwell is only interested in holding us back so sevco can compete at some level. Make the league look competitive, too many players brought to the club by his son who aren’t upto it. Gtf Lawwell, son and Co. Jota, Mooy and Starfelt replaced with who?

  • John A says:

I will also say that atmosphere is awful, GB need brought back now!

Don’t conflate the issues. Lack of real investment and the Green Brigade are two separate problems requiring different solutions.
With the GB, the solution is straightforward, ‘Obey House Rules’ and the Laws of the Land or GTF.
The vast majority of our fans won’t miss them.
The Board on the other hand are a far more pernicious poison.
Answers on a Post Card please for that one.

Sack the board? Yes, definitely, and the head of recruitment too. They are all shite.

The thing is though, most of the players in this squad are treble winners from last year..why are they now so hopeless? That lies at the manager’s door. a manager who I think is working his ticket.

He’s been sold a tissue of lies by the board and Desmond and knows if he just walks the ire of the fans could be much worse than last time so if he makes sure we play like a shower of muppets he’s likely to eventually be fired, get his payday, and say “I did what I could with what I was provided, and what I was provided wasn’t good enough”.

That might be true Brendan but the guys who were outstanding last year have all been pretty shite under your leadership. The only player who has been consistently good is O’Riley,(who’ll possibly be out the door in January when a good offer comes in).

Massive changes required all over the club as far as I’m concerned, but yes, get that bastard board out first and let’s be damn quick about it. Enough is enough.

Seppington, you hit the nail squarely on the head my friend,I’m raging at the board and Rodgers because he knew what he was dealing with ie the Celtic board but still he came back and I’m like you I don’t think he is a good manager at all,how many hammerings did we get in Europe the first time he was with us,and the same this year in Europe, Celtic will not progress as a club under this board and with Rodgers as a manager he is knowhere near as good as he thinks he is ,if Kilmarnock hearts etc can beat us what is sevco going to do and much as I hate to admit it they are looking a better team than us ,I really don’t think we could have went to Spain and beat real betis,so much as it choked me the Huns are looking better than us .

  • John S says:

With the players he has at his disposal, compared to other Scottish teams, the manager has to accept responsibility for recent displays.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

It’s probably worse than we have a home game next week as well…

It could certainly be worse being a home game for Lawwell and co for sure –

Where the actual fcuk did it all go wrong for Celtic ?

I’m scratching ma head big time trying to figure it all out !

Editor: It went wrong on 1 July 2022 when Mini started as Head of Recruitment and accelerated on 1 January 2023 when Daddy became Chairman.

      nice editor comment:)

      • Brian says:

Not only that!! Bringing Rogers back was just another Lennon moment, to lazy, no ambition, he was the best option, blah!blah! We need a forward thinking board, a manager with fresh ideas. Who? I don’t know, I don’t get paid to make those decisions. Loads of cash in the bank! Well they had best use some of it or sevco are going to bank a possible £60 million. Oh yes they will spend it.

      • Eldraco says:

This is how lawell set out to destroy rodgers whom he hates. They make him look a fool and useless. Next up kennedy Appointed with plenty of funds in jan . Seems ACSM think some sort of action tomorrow.

You read it here first though.

    • Jim Duffy says:

Very nice editor comment, hit the nail on the head ,the sooner the liewells and desmond f**k off the better Celtic will be.

Everyone used to go on about how great Desmond was for Celtic ,has that guy ever contributed any money to Celtic,at least park of Hamilton put his hand in his pocket to help the Huns , Desmond greedy ba**ard has put f**k all of his own money in ,a Tory greedy bastard.

  • Tony B says:

Dear Mr Lawwell. I hope all the money you’ve taken was worth it.

I wish you and your son would just go.

    You are a disgrace.

What does it profit a man if he gain the whole world but lose his soul/

  • Kevin Lee says:

It All started with Rodgers refusing to bench heart the defenders are shut scared to make a mistake because of him come on what goalkeeper in the land is scared shirtless to catch a ball from a corner.
