Even Dermot Gallagher has admitted that Cyriel Dessers was lucky to get away without conceding a penalty as his side won 2-0 at Motherwell on Sunday.
That reaction questions the competence of Greg Aitken who was on VAR duty at Fir Park and who’ll also be watching from VAR HQ as Dundee take on Celtic today.
After a 72 match run without having a penalty awarded against his favourite team it was hardly a surprise when David Dickinson decided to take no action when he saw the amber shirt of Mike Biereth being pulled back.
Lesser pulls on Connor Goldson have been punished in recent weeks with the apologists deployed to display verbal gymnastics to justify the unjustifiable.

Steven McLean will referee Wednesday’s match at home to Ross County with the double act of Nick Walsh and Willie Collum controlling Saturday’s Glasgow Derby.
Sky Sports and BBC Scotland have both refused to discuss one club going on a 73 match league run without having a penalty awarded against them.

Aitken is regularly on VAR duty for Kilmarnock matches, his wee team.
It’s the other club’s that give the corrupt refs and VAR officials the green light – the question is what do we do about it.
It can’t be allowed to go on forever. . .
Editor: Well according to big Peter and his clone Nicholson ‘penalty Rangers’ is a crackin laugh. Their pals love the banter.
Dermot like the rest of us know that luck’s got eff all to do with it.
Not sure UEFA would be too happy knowing one of their association members is running a corrupt league.
Well BR should mention it when he gets interviewed today about the game he should be asking why is ref aitken on VAR again especially when he missed a stonewell penalty for motherwell against The Ranjurs on wednesday listen our game is a disgrace with these officials and ì can see fans staying away our causing a riot if these officials keep this up be warned fans are raging that VAR can only spot a blue shirt getting pulled but nothing else our game is rigged for the ranjurs to won this league get CL money to keep them in the game SCOTTISH FOOTBALL IS CORRUPT IM OUT FCK PAYING TO WATCH OFFICIALS HELPING OUT ONE.CLUB ESPECIALLY AFTER THERE LAST CLUB WAS LIQUIDATED FOR NOT PAYING THERE TAXES AND CHEATING USING EBT SIDELETTERS NOPE NOT FOR ME AND THOUSANDS OF FANS SHOULD DO THE SAME WALK AWAY NOW..
I don’t think there was any element of luck involved at all, Dermot. Different rules apply….. although past experience suggests you’re well aware of that.
The question should have been …’how corrupt can you get ‘ not how lucky can you get ?
Blind Lemon Jefferson would have had a field day regarding Scottish football offialdom and it’s two sets of rules and regulations for one clumpany and the rest if he were still of this earth . Any regular neutral person taking in the game for a short period of time would say ‘woah !’
Are these referees for real ? Are they on the take ? What else could they say ? At the end of the season after the league is won ,Celtic FC should release a statement to the authorities saying ‘ you tried every underhand method possible at your disposal to prevent us winning the title !’
How sad ..too bad ! There won’t be a next time .
Until all other clubs call this out and the SMSM start telling the truth the cheating by referees on the park and using VAR won’t stop
CELTIC scored a goal the referees chief Crawford Allan said he would have a word with Bobby…who was Bobby Madden never known to help CELTIC was so outraged he left Scottish football to officiate in England…had CELTIC caused a referee to leave Scottish football to officiate in England you would still be reading and hearing about it today
