Nothing to hide basis? Ibrox anger spills over as second statement is issued over Sima offside decision

Less than 24 hours after their initial statement the Ibrox Tribute Act have followed up with another attack on the SFA.

It seems that the combined wisdom of Lenny, Faddy and Boydy is being used for the latest tantrum as they attempt to deflect from the failings of players and the superiority of Saturday’s opponents.

In most countries a club that had gone 74 league matches without having a penalty awarded against them would want to steer well clear of questioning the integrity and motivations of match officials but today’s follow up brings the phrase ‘nothing to hide’ into the discussion.

Unlike in England Scottish match officials don’t have to declare what club they support or one that you might have a connection with. Saturday’s referee Nick Walsh works on the fitness of Murray Park starlets in his job as a PE teacher at their partnership school of Boclair Academy in Bearsden.

Officials from Lanarkshire and Glasgow dominate the big match appointments in Scotland, people who are working every day alongside fans of the two biggest clubs in the country.

Just before 5pm tonight the Daily Record and other obedient media outlets were fed the follow to yesterday’s dose of paranoia:

Despite repeated Rangers FC requests, the Scottish FA have so far failed to disclose the VAR audio to allow the club to understand the process around the non-award of a penalty in the first half of yesterday’s Old Firm match. Rangers officials stand ready to meet in-person or virtually with the Scottish FA at any time to hear and discuss the audio.

However, the Scottish FA are refusing to both share the VAR audio and meet until at least Wednesday, five days after the Old Firm match and after the next round of Scottish Premiership fixtures. This is clearly unacceptable and heightens Rangers’ concerns over the lack of transparency, for which the need is urgent.

Rangers have learned no penalty was awarded as the VAR official, Willie Collum, concluded a handball offence had not occurred in the first half. While the club and most observers are astonished by this ‘professional’ view, we remain perplexed and concerned about the Scottish FA’s motivations for sharing an offside image with broadcasters during the second half, when this was not the original reason why the penalty was not awarded.

England’s Premier League and other leading European Leagues operate on a ‘nothing to hide’ basis, where open communication and full transparency are available to clubs and the public on contentious VAR calls in a timely manner. On a weekend where not only Rangers but also fellow Scottish FA member clubs have major questions over potentially match-changing incidents, our governing body would do well to heed that same mantra.

John Beaton (Lanarkshire) will referee Tuesday’s match against Kilmarnock with Steven McLean (Glasgow) on VAR duty.

  • Scouse bhoy says:

Bring all the other decisions that have went there way into the same discussions we have been asking for reform into the way these issues are dealt with only one club will not benefit from any reform you really could not make this up but as usual the gutless media will do as usual

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

      Great point Scouse Bhoy !

They brought the game into disrepute in Gerard’s first game at Pittodrie v Aberdeen and it has paid them handsome dividends since…

And this 2 o’clock statement will see it (The cheating) continues unabated and worse than ever –

And How in the fcuk have Sevco ‘learned’ that no penalty was awarded by Collum as he concluded that a handball offence had not occurred in the first half given that they don’t have their demanded audio tapes yet…

The SFA can use their usual get out excuse that they use on everyone else – ie. that the tape recorder wasn’t working and had a breakdown until into the second half –

By fcuk they are chancers for sure – I’ll give them that much…

That’s some PR indeed – and outed on a Sunday as well…

Is their PR guy not from one of these Presbyterian Islands where don’t hang the washing out on a Sunday or open pubs, and cook the Sunday roast on a Saturday night and probably hold in their pish and shit for the sake of not desecrating ‘The Sabbath’ –

Their bloody DNA is a festering bloody boil everywhere in Scotland and bits of The Island of Ireland !

  • harold says:

    Get the audio out there

and from that moment on any club who requests the audio after a decision they don’t agree with also gets it

    Right ?

  • Bob (original) says:

    Oh, it’s Statement O’Clock…again?

If I was a cynical, non-sevco, Scottish footy supporter,

I’d think that sevco doth protest too much.

    They can’t change the result,

    but they can try to deflect from the facts that;

    – Clement is not, in fact, the ibrox Messiah, but a bang average manager

    – the sevco squad is poor, with Cantwell one of their ‘better’ players!

    – sevco has no money to buy any players

    – sevco has brought in a VERY expensive loanee, whose stats are no better

than Dessers and Sima when they were signed!

As far as we are all aware, all CFC players are 100%, properly registered with

both the SPFL & the SFA: we don’t field ineligible players.

So, sevco can stamp its feet all it wants in media tantrums, like a spoiled brat

    and a really poor / skint loser…

but they ain’t getting a sniff of those 3 points! 🙂

    • KC67 says:

They tramps think they ARE Scottish football.

Somebody needs to grow a pair and tell them to GTF, but unfortunately they’d get death threats. This is the country we’re living in. Wha’s like us indeed.

Even people on our own board are hell bent on helping this scabby zombie outfit stay afloat, while the fans want them killed off once and for all.

  • Stewart says:

U couldn’t touch that mob or their media lackeys
Way a blow torch,, the decisions that have gotten them a point rather than lose 3pts,,and wen they are struggling in a game that’s heading for a draw and they gain 3pts for absolutely mind numbing decisions, and their friends in media are sent out there to spread the gunge that they where correct calls,,, shit team,, ordenary manager,,,deceitful directors,, and fkn stupid fans,,

  • bertie basset says:

sevco will have collum removed from refereeing and var duty where they are involved , they have previous with him , when that is achieved , celtic must have a declaration from the S F A concerning the loyalties of the referees officiating at their games , and pay for outside referees to take charge of their games , the cheating by goldson and siema feigning injury trying to have a celtic player sent off is totally unprofessional , their getting away with it for too long

  • Neil Smith says:

2 x Statement o Clock on the one game now ? I strongly suspect a third on news years day. Will our authorities grow a pair? Or WC and NW a wee demotion??? Likely… But FFS only if all decisions go sevco way they happy and nothing less??!? Always cheated never defeated is simply now theirs

  • Charlie Green123321 says:

Sawing the branch they are sitting on.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

What – The Special Branch Charlie !

There are certainly plenty of the fuckers in that organisation in Scotland and even more in that organisation in The six occupied counties in The Island of Ireland !

  • Scud Missile says:

Interpol the FBI and the CIA with Mi5 and Mossad and the KGB to investigate the result of Celtic v Sevco game from the 30th December 2023.

  • Murph says:

Follow follow is awesome at times like this. (I jumped on for a pathetic bit of schadenfreude.) Sevco have been in the Scottish Premiership for 7.5 years and for all but 2 of those seasons they have conceded the least (14 penalties conceded in the league in total since they were founded). 3 years they have conceded no penalties at all in the league (according to transfermarket). Generally, they are also top of the league when it comes to penalties awarded. Fucksakes.
Despite all this, the SFA together with the refereeing fraternity, media (usually with the less common “h” spelling) and Scottish government are full on biased against them.

  • Eldraco says:

Eventually it will go ” the club having had discussions ect ect are now satisfied ect ect that ect and that the decison on the day ect the club remains committed to acting on behalf of the complete psycotic lunatic fringe in the terraces. Ect

  • Johnny mcglinchey says:

  • harold shand says:

You notice how all the hun hacks from the usual rags today have watched the Dermot Gallagher ref watch thing on Sky and totally twisted what he said in their headlines

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Nope – I won’t notice Harold as that’d be me contributing to them financially either online or by physical paper purchase…

But someone has to out their lie after lie after lie and ta for telling me !

  • Embra Tim says:

Wow. There’s been a statement and the rangers are no happy. They need to get over themselves. This is another example of the arrogance and lack of respect that they have for everyone outside of their tiny circle. Small club mentality ???

  • the maister says:

The one thing the Huns cannot do is Turn Back Time.
Oh how they would love to!
