Nick Walsh will referee Saturday’s Glasgow Derby, the fourth time that he has been in charge of the fixture.

The Bearsden based school-teacher refereed two of last season’s six derby matches with his latest appointment probably confirming his status as the top referee in the eyes of the SFA.

Walsh took charge of Celtic’s 4-0 home win in September 2022 and was the man in the middle for February’s League Cup Final at Hampden which was won 2-1 by Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Willie Collum will be on VAR duty, having not taken charge of the Derby match since April 2022 it looks like his hold on the top matches is over with.

Walsh has already refereed Celtic twice this season, in the 4-2 opening day win over Ross County and the impressive 4-1 win at Tynecastle in October.

Don Robertson will referee Tuesday’s match away to Dundee with Greg Aitken on VAR duties.

I’m sure he’ll have a tremendous match with hardly any honest mistakes, particularly with Willie ‘centre of attention’ Collum in the VAR suite to help him…..

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Two reasons that Collum is on VAR Captain…

      1) Sevco didn’t want him in their or any other top matches – and Sevco must of course get what it wants…

      2) Collum is perceived as being of Roman Catholic faith and is a useful idiot for the despicable Crawford Allen (Head of Refereeing) to be seen to giving anything or any 50:50 to ‘The Catholic Club’ !

Well they’ll be millions watching sky TV will he sacrifice his career for a pledge I’d rate him alright but his nuts will be getting squeezed honesty or pledge will c
