Often referred to as “The Celts” or “The Hoops”, Celtic FC has enjoyed a rich history that can be traced back to 1887. They have also racked up a number of impressive achievements during their time on the pitch. Let’s take a look at some of their most striking accomplishments in order to better appreciate why this team is so respected throughout the professional football community.

The Golden Years

Many die-hard Celtics fans will look back fondly upon the history of this team during the 1960s and 1970s. Thank to the leadership of Jock Stein, Celtic FC was able to garner nine consecutive league titles. They emerged victorious after defeating Milan at the 1967 European Cup. The Celtics are still the only Scottish team to have ever won the European Cup; a feat not to be taken lightly.

A Scottish Powerhouse

It is no great surprise that Celtic FC has become a household name throughout Scotland. This is due in no small part to the amazing fact that their club has walked away with no fewer than 53 national championship titles.. Simply stated, Celtic FC is nothing less than a true powerhouse while on the pitch; making it easy to understand why they are considered a favourite by fans who regularly follow Scottish premiership fixtures.

Individual Accomplishments

Although it is easy to highlight the achievements of Celtic FC as a team, it is just as important to remember that specific players have also made massive contributions. Perhaps the best example of this observation can be seen when discussing former captain Scott Brown. Brown wore the Celtics jersey for no fewer than 14 years and he still holds the record of having played in highest number of European competitions. Not only does this serve as a testament to his talent, but it also illustrates the prominence of the Celtics within international football.

Let’s finally mention that the Celtics are still going strong. This is partially the result of undeniable talents such as Kyogo Furuhashi, Callum McGregor and Matt O’Riley. Although it is impossible to determine what the future may have in store for Celtic FC, it is still a foregone conclusion that they will continue to make a name for themselves within the world of top-tier football.
