Not content with selecting referees the club from Ibrox are looking to pick the line-ups for their opponents.

Last month, after they had been paired together in the Scottish Cup, Murray Park starlet Jay Hogarth went out on loan to Dumbarton with both clubs wanting the young goalkeeper to play against his main employers in Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie.

In the league clubs agree among themselves that loan players can’t play against their parent club but ensuring that there is no ambiguity Scottish Cup rules forbid that situation from arising.

Although it is very far fetched, if the Dumbarton goalkeeper has the game of his life on Saturday he could knock-out the Ibrox club and deny them of more than a million pounds with a run to the final.

It is the clearest example of a conflict of interest but speaking to The Sun Dumbarton boss Stevie Farrell wants Hogarth to play against the club that he trains with all week:

There was no issue between Rangers and Dumbarton over Jay playing and both clubs agreed to let him play but the rules don’t allow him to play.

The rules of the governing body don’t allow a player to play against their parent club in a cup tie. It’s something that needs to be reviewed because for Jay it’s about development. It’s about experiencing big games, big cup ties.

Ultimately he’s then going to go back to his parent club with better experience. It’s something that needs to be looked at in the future.

Last season Hogarth played 33 matches in League One for Alloa, according to Soccerbase Dumbarton have four other goalkeepers.

Well, obviously the keeper should play against his employer…

because Scottish football is already, blatantly, corrupt to its core.

Why pretend that it’s anythying different?

This goalie being allowed to play in this cup-tie,

would break the rules – and would be a massive conflict of interest.

    But, in the great sceme of things in Scottish football, including;

    – Campbell Ogilvie, SFA President overseeing the demise of RFC

    – a decade of ineligible players winning trophies – and keeping them

    – no recruitment process required to appoint SFA CEO Maxwell

    etc…

this proposed “improper fielding of a loanee” would not be a biggie,

and we can all just look the other way? 🙁

I feel sorry for the good Celtic folks of Dumbarton having to suffer Sevco fans coming to their town this weekend…

That said it’s a tiny ground and Dumbarton will probably keep most of the tickets for themselves –

There were lots and lots of Celtic supporters kicking about Dumbarton when I had ma girlfriends there many moons ago…

Hopefully it’s still much the same and they just get these Sevco fans in and out of the place on Saturday without too much trouble !

Sevco are not content with having ref’s linesmen var on their side they want an ace in the hole Thier own goalkeeper

I wouldnt trust them if it goes pear shaped there would be an appeal in before the changing room door is kicked in

Good thinking stevie. And the speed of a lorry is retarded as it climbs up a hill!

I don’t think there’s a story here. Nobody objected when loanee Patrick Roberts played for Celtic in Champions League against Manchester City, his parent club. One could argue that it’s the player himself who might be conflicted.
