Celtic are reported to be ‘eyeing a January move’ for Nicolas Kuhn.

The winger has Bayern Munich, Ajax and RB Leipzig on his CV but is currently at Rapid Vienna where he is rated in the £2m bracket.

During the summer transfer window Celtic lost Jota and brought in Luis Palma, Marco Tilio and Yang Hyun-jun but only the Honduran has made any serious impact on Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Tilio looks like going out on loan to an A-League side after being on Asian Cup duty with the Celtic boss stating that January is about signing quality rather than prospects.

In previous years Celtic have had deals in place ahead of January 1, that hasn’t been the case this year but The Sun reports:

CELTIC are eyeing a January move for Rapid Vienna winger Nicolas Kuhn.

SunSport understands the Hoops have been tracking the 24-year-old German this season.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to bolster his attacking options in the coming weeks.

Former Ajax and Bayern Munich prospect Kuhn, who can also play as a striker, has emerged on the Hoops’ radar after impressing with Rapid.

The Austrians paid around £500,000 for him 18 months ago and are expected to ask for at least four times that.

The report adds:

A left-sided winger in the mould of Patrick Roberts, the attacker prefers to play off the right.

Kuhn has three goals and seven assists in 22 appearances for Rapid this season and has emerged as a key man.

Capped at every youth level by Germany, he was hailed as a child prodigy as clubs battled for his signature.

Ajax signed him from RB Leipzig for £1.8million five years ago, but he failed to make a first-team breakthrough.

Bayern brought him back to Germany in 2020 but he was limited to B-team games. Kuhn then moved to Rapid 18 months ago and has now established himself as a regular.

Data and scouting site Wyscout recently named him as one of the top 12 ‘chance creators’ in world football. Kuhn is under contract until 2026 but the prospect of a move to Celtic is likely to appeal.

David Friel is the author of that report, in February 2021 he revealed the departure of Neil Lennon 10 hours before the Stock Market announcement.

After Tuesday’s match against St Mirren Celtic aren’t back in SPFL action until January 27 when they are at home to Ross County.

Think the wide right area of the team is something Rodgers will look to improve during the January window imo.
The combination play between AJ and whoever plays wide right has in general been piss poor to date this season.
The loss of form from AJ has hardly helped matters, but no improvement when ralston has started either imo?
Even Maeda has looked out of sorts upon his return also.
Abada is only trying to restart his season currently, so with so many options used in the wide right area and such a poor return of success, still believe we need to strengthen in that area within the team imo?
The right balance still hasn’t been achieved between our right and left hand side between attacking and defending, so still believe that this hopefully improves in the 2nd half of the season, and improve our inconsistencies in performance levels also imo?

    Three goals all season?
Bring back Tony Watt. He scored that in one game, the other day!
He can play off of the right as well!
And he can do it at the highest level!

Not another fucking project. Get these Lawwells to fuck before they destroy our club.

Who said, “We have a million wingers”?

That is a rather deceiving article in The DR: seems an unlikely target…?

Per his stats, Kuhn played for Ajax U21, and FC Bayern Munich II [reserves].

His only senior club / first team games have been this season

    with Rapid Vienna.

    So that’s:

    – 24 years old

    – 22 senior club games

    – a goal every 7 games

    – valued at c.£2M

Not a quality player, just another project.

[And actually a bit ‘old’ for a project at 24 and with only 22 senior games?]
