Image for Rodgers reveals cruel Celtic injury blow

Highlighting their lack of transfer activity, Brendan Rodgers will have to find a new left-back for Celtic’s next couple of matches.

Greg Taylor has started all 30 matches played this season, across four competitions but will be missing tomorrow when the team sheet is posted for the match against Ross County.

Going into the transfer window most fans expected a left-back to be signed, until the weekend there were rumours of interest in Liverpool’s Owen Beck who had been on loan at Dundee.

That option ended when Beck came off the bench to play in the closing stages of the 4-0 win at Bournemouth leaving Rodgers to improvise in defence over a vital run of matches that covers trips to Aberdeen, Hibs and St Mirren.

Speaking to the Daily Record the Celtic boss revealed:

Greg will be out for a few weeks. Towards the game at the weekend he felt a slight strain in his calf. So sadly he’s out, which is a shame because he’s been excellent and very consistent over the course of the season so far.

Last season Alexandro Bernabei was a regular deputy for Taylor but this season the Argentinian has rarely made the bench with the last of his four substitute appearances coming in the home defeat from Hearts a month ago.

Liam Scales could be moved out of position to replace Taylor tomorrow with the other option being to play Mitchel Frame who is fit again after an impressive cameo at home to Feyenoord in the Champions League.

And there you have it. Folk have been screaming for backup for Taylor for months and what have the board done? SFA. And if Kyogo gets injured tomorrow? What if Hart picks up a strain? Can Kuhn play in goal as well as being a striker, a winger and a midfielder? Lawwell #1 and 2# have to go.
