No one could have been left in any doubt over the key requirement that Brendan Rodgers needed in his summer signings.
It wasn’t project or development, the Celtic manager was looking for quality. Established players ready to push for a first team place, arrivals that can instantly improve on his Starting XI.
With Ajax and Bayern Munich on his CV Nicolas Kuhn is used to the demands and expectations of a club used to dominating and leading from the front.
The winger had had to move to Austria to get his breakthrough, after a season and a half he has moved to Celtic with Rodgers giving his approval on the hoops website:
We are delighted to welcome Nicolas to Celtic. We believe he is a dynamic player who has an excellent level of quality and all the attributes to fit well into our style of play.
He has the profile we are looking for, he has a real attacking intent, a player with great pace and ideas, the ability to create and score goals and a player with a great energy and work ethic.
He is someone who can play wide on both sides so he brings with him that versatility for us too, and myself and the coaches here really look forward to working with him.
Kuhn should be training with his new team-mates today with his fitness assessed in relation to the prospect of a debut on Sunday at home to Buckie Thistle.

Not going to be negative about any new signings.
The expectations have been set though – and by BR himself, in prior presser quotes:
Kuhn will hit the ground running, show his quality from the outset,
and he will add an immediate improvement to the first team.
We need a boost for the second half of the season, so good luck to the lad.
Nicolas will look good against Buckie but so would all the other wingers. Ask Liverpool fans what they thought of BR’s buys. Too many of them did not meet Fans expectations of a quality Liverpool player. That’s one reason why BR had to leave. He should get away with it at Celtic FC.
Good spiel Brendan. Sounds like he knows the fellow well?
I just want him to do well obviously primarily to benefit Celtic…
But thereafter to truly piss off the Scottish Football Media –
Who have been reported in other blogs of completely writing him off…
Go and prove the media scum wrong my new Celtic friend !
