Just after 11.30 this morning Sky Sports News reported that Atletico Madrid have put in a bid to sign Matt O’Riley.

The midfielder extended his Celtic contract in September but last summer Jota was sold to Al Ittihad one year into a long term contract.

O’Riley has been Celtic’s outstanding player this season, while others have struggled to adapt to Brendan Rodgers’ style of play the former Fulham prospect has kicked on to a new level in the hoops midfield.

The 23-year-old looked perfectly at home playing in the Champions League which elevated him into making his full international debut for Denmark.

Atletico were held to a 2-2 draw when they visited Glasgow in October, giving them the perfect opportunity to assess the impressive midfielder in the Celtic side.

Celtic will be expected to resist any offers in the current transfer window but it is starting to look inevitable that O’Riley will be sold during the summer.

So orielly out on loan,,,, abada out on loan,,,wtf are these peepul at,,,sky as other media outlets are so off the mark it’s getting beyond a joke,,

Where does the media get off on these ridiculous stories – a loan deal, in January, for O’Reilly with compulsory buy? No way will Celtic part with O’Reilly in this window & will not do so until they are sure they have a ready-made replacement for him. That has yet to be seen with new bhoy Khun just arrived & Bernardo being very impressive in the last few games but the summer transfer window could be a different story.

It seems the media, especially in Scotland, can’t wait to sell off Celtic players & are determined to try to unsettle them by claiming so many of them are being wanted by other clubs in this window.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

They will only unsettle The Celtic Players if they are daft enough to tune in or buy papers…

Sadly I suppose some will do – Just like some of our fans (especially on other forums CQN) do !

As the Donald would say FAKE NEWS.

  • KC67 says:

Lawwell will be desperate to pull the trigger on that one, it secures the bonuses for his mates on the board.

  • BriBhoy says:

I guess, in an otherwise dull January window, they and the rest of the mainstream media covering Scotland have to make up BS about our players for clickbait. I mean, who the hell is going to believe that there’s any interest whatsoever in anyone plying their trade over at the Asbestos Arena? Or that Sevco have the cash to splash on anyone worth getting your keyboard out for?
