CQN steps up their campaign of attack on Brendan Rodgers

Paul67 has published another attack on Brendan Rodgers through his daily ‘thought piece’ on Celtic Quick News.

When the Irishman was in contention for the Celtic job last June Paul67 patronised him by claiming it was simply a favour from a previous employer, an ego boost following his departure ahead of relegation for Leicester City.

The corporate side of Celtic is completely immune from criticism on CQN but anyone that might have fallen foul of Peter Lawwell is greeted with outright hostility.

Assessing last night’s win over Hibs CQN wades in with:

Brendan, any one of us reading this could have done as well in the dugout last night.  You need to put a team on the field that can dominate and win against Premiership sides with 10% of your financial resources and who would be embarrassed by the money you spent.

Against Ross County, Aberdeen and now Hibs, teams on terrible runs of form, we are a soft touch.  Enough with the self-fulfilling excuses for failure, you have the resources to comfortably win these games.  It is your responsibility to get it right, or just own up if you can’t do the job without Chris Davies.

Paul67 and the Balance Sheet Bhoys might know their way through the riddle of amortisation but he wouldn’t last 10 minutes in football management. If he was 10% as smart as he thinks he is he’d be CEO at Celtic, Manchester City or Real Madrid rather than running a blog more than a decade past the last time it was relevant.

Rodgers has a lot of searching questions to answer in relation to Celtic’s dismal performances this season but nothing like the questions that the Lawwell family could do with addressing.

After four transfer windows and 21 signings Mark has yet to deliver an upgrade on a single player at Celtic, out of his seven summer signings only Paulo Bernardo made last night’s Starting XI away to Hibs.

Daddy could be grilled on the appointments of Neil Lennon twice and Ronny Deila, also Tony Mowbray while the classic 2019-20 recruitment of Vkoun Bayo, Oli Burke, Marion Shved, Boli Bolingoli, Ismaila Soro, Patryk Klimala, Diego Laxalt,Vasilis Barkas and Albian Ajeti were all released or written off with virtually no contribution. Or he could be asked to compare John McGinn with Youssuf Mulmbu.

During the ‘decade of domination’ Malmo, Maribor, AEK Athens, Cluj, Ferencvaros and various other European minnows exposed the multiple flaws in the ‘strategy’ of the all powerful CEO. Each of those Champions League qualifying defeats cost Celtic a minimum of £20m in European revenue.

Recent contributions from CQN are on a par with the greatest examples of succulent lamb from legacy media as they drooled unquestioningly over the brilliance of Sir Dave.

Resolution 12 and the Five Way Agreement of 2012 are two other topics that Paul67 won’t touch with a bargepole.

Brennan took his 30 pieces of silver long ago. Like his puppeteer Lawwell he has no shame.

The rampant cronyism and nepotism that infects Celtic never gets a mention, indeed he blames the manager for the poor quality of signings, conveniently forgetting to mention the role of the completely unqualified head of recruitment, who is only there because of his daddy.

As a result CQN has become a joke in the Celtic blogosphere. All the reasonable contributors left long ago.

It is now populated by angry old white men who are either slagging each other off, condoning each other over the now regular deaths of contributors given their demographic, arranging to go for ” hootenanys”, or wishing each other and themselves happy birthday.
It is becoming more and more like a hun fan site.

    Wallow wallow.

It’s refreshing to see that very few are falling for It’s all the managers fault.
This isn’t hard to spot where it’s going wrong.
We’ve had 2 really good spells as a club in over a decade.
Both have been when the strategy has been ditched. Brendans first spell right at the start and Ange and Mckay at the beginning. Once Lawell has regained influence we have reverted to toiling.
All our better players are from outwith Lawell influence.
Can you imagine this board picking a new manager? Would be nothing more than a puppet.
The board has to go and the strategy must change or we’re only trying to stay just ahead of Sevco.
Their reluctance to challenge the SFA and refereeing is as big an issue as the horrendous recruitment and policy.
    No more, this can’t continue.
Celtic fans, let’s unite and be the club we can be.

Yes Sid we did have 2 really good spells in over a decade ,how many good spells have we had in Europe in the last 15 years, let me remind you none, we’ve been a joke in Europe for years now ,we are seen as easy touch, our excuse has always been teams are richer than us ,true but teams with far less resources than us have done much better ,who’s to blame for this ,the board and the managers, Rodgers 2 spells in Europe have been horrendous, first time round twice had 7 put past us ,and this time we were just as bad , Ange didn’t do too well in Europe either but bottom line is we needed to speculate to accumlate and this skinflint biscuit tin board under liewell never ever tried to help us improve in Europe,he just wouldn’t spend the money. In short I hope we don’t concede the league to sevco this year but Europe is where we as a team are judged outside of Scotland, the English call it Mickey mouse,it’s getting they aren’t far wrong but we need to prove them wrong by doing something in Europe for once instead of getting horsed out early every year.

  • John S says:

Why does a legitimate comment on the manager immediately elicit excuses in the form of Board bashing ? Take the two things separately. Aberdeen and Hibs would chop their players legs off for half of Celtic’s resources.

    • the maister says:

If they did chop them off, ouch!
Then they would be about as useful as our £70 million sitting in the bank!
Resources are only of value if you know how to use them, which this Board certainly don’t!

    • the maister says:

      Got it?

  • Sid says:

Struggling against other Scottish teams isn’t a BR phenomenon. When the team has been underfunded and recruitment under Lawwell policy. We’ve struggled against Ross County, Inverness and the likes throughout the years under Lennon(2) Ronny, Mowbray and never prepared for Euro qualifiers consistently. Blaming the manager when the policy and the policy makers is to blame requires us to not have a memory.
The pattern is obvious and leads right to the boards door, this time the majority of Celtic fans won’t be fooled. Unlike yourself.

  • the maister says:

Brendan put a few right last night with his pre-match comments.
We’ve won five of the last six, he said.
Make that six from seven now!

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Meanwhile Shankland and Miovski continue to score for fun….

  • William Melvin says:

The poll seems to reflect who is the major hindrance to our progression as a club, and by some margin 19 to 1 for Parasite Pete !

  • Davie says:

Lawwell Lawwell Nicholson and Rodgers all have to go, DD and son are in same boat.

None of them can improve the team.

Rodgers accepts what he gets, During his first time round he ran away as soon as a challenge came from Gerrard and his average team.

Previously Rodgers did win trebles in a league without a challenge.

Rodgers is as big a problem as Lawell senior, Rodgers has taken a fast flowing entertaining team back to his boring negative style of play.

I can’t stand this non creative style which limits chances.

Kyogo would get more passes if he played in goal.

I could go on and on, Rodgers can’t make Celtic a ruthless winning team, he has to go.

    Hail Hail the players.

Fail Fail the mgr and board.
