Like most things at the moment Celtic are struggling badly at the PR game.

In times of trouble getting some good news out there to take attention away from the real issues is very worthwhile, it buys time and fools a decent number of people.

During season 20/21 Celtic’s social media team would have been as well going on furlough, with negativity hanging over everything they reverted to wishing obscure former players a Happy Birthday as fans waited for news of change.

Since November the parallels have been made between this season and the last time Peter Lawwell was fully in charge of the club.

The comparisons have been obvious in recent weeks, yesterday the club dug out a feature on the new training complex at Barrowfield with world class and state-of-the-art being used in a similar fashion to the unveiling of Murray Park a generation ago.

Celtic’s Academy and B team will soon have incredible facilities for preparing to face Cumbernauld Colts and Caledonian Braves- along the M8 on Airdrie’s plastic pitch.

Wednesday’s announcement was greeted with no acclaim or fanfare from supporters wise to the tactics of the club. They know that the club is holding back on the Interim Accounts to 31 December 2023 which will reveal a bank balance of around £100m while the team collapses on the pitch, gift wrapping the SPFL title across the city.

In the final week of the transfer window with expectations high for improvements the club revealed that Cameron Carter-Vickers had signed a new contract- a clear signal that there would be very little business completed before the transfer window closed.

Two days after he was pictured in Glasgow the club waited until 10.30pm on Deadline Day to announce the loan signing of Adam Idah. The reaction was almost entirely hostile- the player was excused with the fans hostility all aimed at the Chairman, CEO, Board of Directors and the former CFG Head of Information and Content.

Genuine question…Are there still Celtic supporters out there who don’t know we’re treated like idiots ?…Celtic FC has a long long history of keeping us in our place…and today’s lot are no different…BUT…they know that the Faithful through and through brigade will bump their gums…but still buy a Season Ticket and merchandise…Some things will never change…We get what we deserve.

  • Bob (original) says:

    “World class facilities”

    …but overseen by a parochial, insular – and mute – Board. 🙁

    An expensive contradiction,

which might only produce meagre, tangible benefits for our club?

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Ah well – The poor old souls in these drab grey suits will be ‘privately bemused’ with the above comments by the fans for sure !

  • Barry mcglinchey says:

Club is a shambles. From coaches that aren’t inspiring(mcmanus, o’dea and mccart..Jobs for the boys running recruitment..Nd a board that think they are world class but haven’t got the same vision as the fans..There will be a revolution ..just a matter of time.

With Joe Hart announcing his retirement at the end of this season , I believe he is the first of many current players who will not be here next season for one reason or another . If so, then there will be another major rebuild required in the Summer , akin to the one big Ange inherited at the start of his tenure . Serious money will have to be spent in the process . Would you be confident of that happening considering how tight and miserable this board is ,on doing so ?

  • Sophie Johnstone says:

Probably find that most that are telling fans to give up their season tickets don’t go to games, why is it on us at the bottom of the sh1tpile that have to put all the effort in to affect change.Wheres the movers and the shakers just sitting on their fat backsides not bothering

    • Jim Duffy says:

Sophie it’s probably because the ST holders are the only ones with enough clout to shift this board them and all the faithful through and through merchandise buyers, who this board totally rely on for the clubs income,it’s certainly not TV money or league winners money, but if we are to get rid of this board it will need more than a few feeble chants of ” sack the board” or flags banners etc , because these brass neck bastards on the board are not frightened of anything except losing money, they couldn’t care if no one likes them or rates them, they are too arrogant and narcissistic.

    • Terence Nova says:

To clarify Sophie…I had a Season Ticket for 28 years and gave it up last year in “protest” at our Board’s lack of dealing with Res.12 and other important matters….Oh and my grandson backed his Papa and gave up his as well…So we don’t fall into your category.
And based on what’s happening again…Didn’t we do well.
Simple fact is…Keep supporting the Club financially and happily accept the unacceptable shit they throw your way…or do what we did.
      Its simple really.
      Hail hail.

      • John mcghee says:

Well said Terence and well done to you for giving up ur ST and granson its people like you that try and get these torys scum out of paradise the RES.12 was a disgrace but the 5way agreement kicked the fans between the legs especially when p.lawwell denied he signed it to the shareholders but the corrupt sfa.spfl soon told the fans that big fat baws did sign when are the fans gonnae wake up to the cheating and corruption in the spfl lawwell is trying his best to keep the old firm tag in ace get that board tae FUCK

      • bob says:

Well said fello Celt, it’s a large section of Pie-eyed Celtic supports that can’t see the woods for the trees when it comes to our club. Due to their faithfully blind ignorance of being happy-clappers, who are quite content with going along with the strategy of doing just about enough to the stay a hairbreadth ahead of NewCo, which has enabled these charlatans (at board room level) to continue to rip off other Celtic fans for well over a decade and hoard money for their own agendas, heated driveways and barricades.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

I chucked it Sophie after The Doncaster ‘same club absolutely’ lies and no contradiction from Celtic in an official manner whatsoever…

I do very much miss it but I am content with my decision and with the cheating being ramped up and still silence from the club I don’t see myself for one being back any time soon –

I still buy merchandise that I like and will still strut around in Celtic gear until ma dying day but I’m very much considering how much that I will shell out financially on merchandise especially as I’m suite good at designing my own gear…

However the last printer refused to print ma t-shirts as they said the words that I wanted on it (About The SPFL, and The SFA) risked their printing licence being revoked –

See what we are up against in this bloody rancid country as Celtic supporters !!!

  • pat says:

Seen this piece of manipulative feminist soy boy propaganda yesterday and nearly feel off my seat with laughter.

The money that should have been spent on the actual product, the first team, is being redirected to build a “State-of -the art, politically correct playing fields, for our modern audience”, to drivel over “Aren’t we sooooooooooo progressively regressive”, LMAO
