There was barely a dissenting reply when Chris Sutton tweeted about the lame excuses and weak leadership of Peter Lawwell at Celtic.
Friday’s release of the Interim Report came with a list of excuses from a Chairman who told the club AGM that the way the club is run is regarded as world class by many other clubs. No specifics were given of the departments that are envied by all.
When you are running second in a two horse race in a fringe league it is difficult to see what wonderful work is being carried out underneath the man that threw away 10-in-a-row with a similar list of hard list of hard luck stories.
My @Record_Sport column on a excuses, excuses, excuses, Peter Lawwell on Celtic’s Interim Report and why some of the lame reasoning behind Celtic’s transfer policy won’t cut it with many and rightly so. But there is a league to win right now and harmony is required…thoughts? https://t.co/RUaeJADa1H

Celtic’s woeful transfer activity wasn’t in any way the responsibility of Lawwell’s talentless son, promoted miles beyond his skill-set while editing the website of the City Football Group.
According to Lawwell there were strong performances in another Champions League campaign where fourth place was again guaranteed after five matches.
Despite the outstanding recruitment of Ange Postecoglou in January 2021 and 2022 that month is in fact every difficult to for signing players.
And of absolutely no relevance to Celtic this year’s January market was quiet in England. With less competition around surely that made for more favourable conditions but only a few agents would want to being their client to a club where the toxic presence of the Chairman is destroying every area of the club?
Gaslighting in action.. being told one thing while the opposite is happening in front of your eyes .lawwell lies January transfer window difficult to bring anyone in ..as we see rangers international’s £4 million first team ready January transfer score his second goal in 2 games

the fact the bank balance is good isn’t the issue
the problem is buying players off handy agents
lazy scouting and not buying ready made players with the money they waste on players that won’t get near the 1st team— colum mccann (@mccanio) February 24, 2024
It’s the same old story with the Celtic board every season, string the fans along until the season tickets and new strips are sold, then delay in the transfer market until the usual projects and loans pop up late on. ????

Peter Lawwell has lost the trust of a sizeable element of our support, we no longer believe Mr Balance Sheet or his excuses… especially as his Son is our Head of Recruitment, the quicker he goes the quicker we change to a modern Football Club. pic.twitter.com/XNl6LCgL69

We’re in a mess. A spineless, bang average team, a “ Yes Man” weak manager and a board taking the pish. It’s a disgrace that we’re going to lose everything to that team of theirs this season.

Why has it taken until 23rd February for Lawwell to say that it was a disappointing transfer window and teams didn’t want to do business with Celtic. Lawwell and the Board don’t care what the fans want as long as they get their bonuses. Desmond needs to get this sorted

The fans want change. Sadly, the only way to force that change is to vote with our feet. Desmond has the shares sewn up. Its a low risk, profit making scheme disguised as a football club. They are rewarded handsomely through remuneration bonuses for hoarding our money.

There’s always a call for harmony. It’s done to stop people questioning anything. The happy clappers that liked the Green brigade out will demand harmony.
But, tough questions will be beneficial in the long term.

He’s an asset stripper and needs to go.Happy to bring money in and stockpile it.
This is what happens when an accountant runs your club. Yes he’s done a lot of good for Celtic but he’s made his fair share of mistakes too.
The signing policy is penny wise and pound foolish.— Liam O (@LiamORaw1) February 24, 2024
Just bad vibes all around , everywhere , draining every fan of any joy
Whilst stuffing our money into their big pockets
I despise them
Same old every year, and the supporters fall for it without fail.
It’s up to you bhoys.
Lawwell has made so many mistakes with the buying of inferior players. Lawwell has overstayed his welcome and can take his son with him. Celtic have to stop thinking the structure is good as it’s clearly not.The fans will not be duped this time start acting like a big club instead of saying it.
