Amid the joy of Celtic’s dramatic win over Motherwell this afternoon there was one issue puzzling the watching fans.

Almost as soon as Luis Palma tapped in Celtic’s third goal he took off his shirt to reveal a message handwritten onto his white undershirt.

Sky Sports coverage of the game struggled to pick up the message which was later revealed as Fuerzas Elis.

While Palma was scoring his first SPFL goal since the 6th of December but his thoughts were with Honduran legend Alberth Elis who is in an induced coma in France after suffering a head knock 40 seconds into the match between Bordeaux and Guingamp.

Honduran website Diaromas reports:

Palma scored his goal in the last minute of stoppage time (90+6′), and his celebration was dedicated to his compatriot Alberth Elis, who is hospitalized and in serious condition after a blow to his head.

The Ceibeño came to close a cross on the right wing and addressed the cameras to show a message he was wearing on his shirt with the message “Fuerza Elis.”

With his score Luis Palma reached six goals this season.

The BBC Sport website reported:

Bordeaux striker Alberth Elis is in an induced coma in hospital after suffering a serious head injury in a collision with an opponent.

The club confirmed on Sunday that he had surgery following the incident against Guingamp on Saturday.

Play was paused in the French Ligue 2 match for eight minutes when Elis, 28, clashed heads with defender Donatien Gomis after just 40 seconds.

Bordeaux say it is “impossible” to comment on Elis’ prognosis.

“We warmly thank all those who have shown their support for Alberth and those close to him, in particular the clubs across France,” said Bordeaux president Gerard Lopez.”Your words warm our hearts and are a great strength in the fight that Alberth is waging.”

Palma picked up the traditional yellow card for taking off his top, after a VAR check his goal was confirmed to add to the double from Adam Idah that had rescued the match for Celtic after they went in trailing 1-0 at the break.

Today’s victory reduces the gap at the top of the SPFL Premiership table back to two points, on Wednesday Palma will be hoping for a starting place when Dundee visit Celtic Park.
