Yuki Kobayashi is reported to have turned down a loan move to HJK Helsinki.

The defender hasn’t played a minute of competitive football this season and is currently sixth choice central defender.

With his contract expiring at Vissel Kobe at the end of 2022 he joined Celtic on a five year contract with the loan deal for Moritz Jenz cut short.

The decision to put Cameron Carter-Vickers in for a knee operation at the end of April provided Kobayashi with the chance to impress but heavy defeats at Ibrox and Easter Road seems to have ended his Celtic career after six appearances.

On Monday Football Scotland reported:

HJK Helsinki attempted to take Yuki Kobayashi on loan from Celtic,Football Scotland understands.

The Japanese defender looked set to be one of the fringe men offloaded during the January window with his homeland and the MLS thought to be likely destinations. It has now been revealed though that the Finnish side, where the Hoops previously loaned Conor Hazard, were in for him.

It never went further than that though and Kobayashi remains at Parkhead. The Finnish transfer window remains open until next month so the move could still be resurrected if Helsinki revisit their interest in the 23-year-old.

With the MLS transfer window open until April it appears that Kobayashi is holding out for a move to the States rather than the Finnish League.

After being overlooked by Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers it seems certain that the Celtic career of the 23-year-old is over, but the next step remains unknown with the player holding the aces with a Celtic contract running until May 2028.

First up…Football Scotland is a pro Sevco blog…which undermines Celtic any chance it gets….Just my opinion.
As for Kobayashi…Based on the little I saw of him…you have to wonder what the person who signed him thought of him
In keeping with so many poor and bang average signings …he slots right in there.
And here’s a thing to consider…Based on what I’ve seen …we are going to struggle to move these players on…and some are on long contracts….They have us over a barrel.
Someone’s head needs to roll for this mess.
    It’s a feckin’ disgrace.

Another brilliant piece on buisness by Sonny Lawwell – NOT…

There will be plenty like him lingering around for a helluva long time like a bad smell like spew –

And I feel like spewing at the thought of it all unfold in front of my eyes…

Tragic times at Celtic FC these days !
