Rodgers gives worrying update on Johnston’s fracture

Image for Rodgers gives worrying update on Johnston’s fracture

Celtic are still waiting to discover the extent of the facial injury that Alistair Johnston suffered during the 2-1 win away to Hibs in midweek.

Within the first five minutes of the match the defender was laid out cold with the award of a penalty kick barely any consolation as Johnston was stretchered off then taken to hospital.

It looked a very nasty incident that further reduced the options in defence with Celtic already without Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor.

Four days after the incident at Easter Road Tony Ralston stood in for Johnston in the 2-0 Scottish Cup win over St Mirren with Rodgers still waiting to discover the extent of the Canadian’s injury- and a timeline for his return.

The Daily Record reports:

Meanwhile there is still uncertainty over Johnston’s absence with a fractured skull suffered at Easter Road last midweek Rodgers said: “We’re just waiting to see again on him. A slight fracture on the side.

The thinking is we’ll have a look in 10 days to see where he’s at. But it could be 10 days to four weeks. We’ll just have to wait and see.”

Ralston looks set to continue against Kilmarnock on Saturday and Motherwell the following weekend with the Scotland man a more than adequate back up in that position.

I prefer big Tony, great big Heart and puts in a tremendous amount of work, Tony has many great assets in the team, Johnston is only slightly quicker.
Tony is a better match winner in my opinion.
    Both are good Celtic players.
    Hail Hail.
