Since winter set in it has been clear that the pitch at Celtic Park has been a problem.

There are various issues at away grounds in the SPFL Premiership from plastic pitches to groundsmen taking a few days off before facing Celtic but at home Brendan Rodgers’ squad really shouldn’t have any issues.

Against Buckie Thistle and Ross County the home surface looked really poor, contributing to under par performances and perhaps giving some players an get out for their own form.

Last night Celtic turned in a completely different type of performance, less noticed was the condition of the pitch although it did rate a mention from Rodgers with Yahoo reporting the Irishman saying:

We have players coming back connecting the game, speeding up the tempo of the game, adding creativity to the game and a real ruthless mentality.

I’ve spoken before about the pitch a few times but I’ve got to give my congratulations to the staff because they’ve been working so hard over the last few weeks to get it to a level that allows us to play at that speed. And you can see the difference it makes. So I thought all round, from the stands to the pitch, it was a great night for us.

Last night was just the second match this month, the second fixture since January 27 that the pitch has been used with the benefits fairly clear.

This weekend Celtic are at Tynecastle, by the time they face Livingston on March 10 the pitch will have had plenty of recovery time giving the players every chance to put in another commanding performance as they look to power into the business end of the season.

An abject failure off the scale that The Parkhead Pitch got into the pitiful state that it was in…

When I used to go to every game it was in immaculate condition every week and you could’ve eaten your dinner off it –

In these days the groundsmen were John Hayes and Andy McCann And they won award after award after award for the beautiful state of the field of play…

A pitch in Paradise it was back then !

A bigger problem for me would be ,the fact that Celtic obliterated Dundee last night , with them also playing with 10 men for the last quarter of the game , yet Celtic allowed them to score a ‘ token ‘ goal at the end of the match . I’d much rather see a :killer instinct ‘ mentality where there is absolutely no sign of weakness in all circumstances . It is going to be compulsory to adopt such an attitude as it’s going to start to get very hot on and off the pitch until the title is retained .It’s kill or be killed …..

What a performance, a delight to behold.

It was indeed John and much needed as well !

Today feels decent but would have been awesome if we were seven points ahead !

December has been bloody costly to Celtic for sure !
