Image for Rodgers reveals timeline for Greg Taylor’s early return to the Celtic side

Greg Taylor could be back in the Celtic side as soon as Sunday.

The defender started at left-back in each of Celtic’s first 30 matches of the season but picked up a calf knock in the Scottish Cup tie against Buckie Thistle which forced him out of the last two matches.

With just four substitute appearances to his name Alexandro Bernabei started at left-back against Ross County and Aberdeen with Celtic toiling on all fronts, scoring two goals from deflections in those matches.

Taylor won’t be playing against Hibs on Wednesday night but Rodgers sounded optimistic when discussing his return, covering today’s media conference Ireland Live reports:

Celtic will otherwise have an unchanged squad for the trip to Edinburgh following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Aberdeen, with Greg Taylor still working his way back from a calf problem.

However, the left-back might return against St Mirren in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup on Sunday.

We will see how he is for the weekend but he is out on the pitch,” Rodgers said.

He is moving really well, it will just be getting the sign-off from the medical team. If it’s not the weekend, he will be ready for the next game.”

After three matches away on international duty Daizen Maeda was back in training today and is in contention for a place against Hibs tomorrow.

Hibs have their own troubles to deal with after losing 3-0 at home to St Mirren on Saturday, Rodgers takes his side to Easter Road knowing that he has yet to win at that venue across four visits as Celtic manager.

A love how Taylor and Maeda have been previously getting slated. Now they’re the best thing since sliced bread. Watch you you wish for guys.

Glad Taylor is back as that Argentinian Bernabi doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence !
