Don Robertson will referee Sunday’s match between Hearts and Celtic with John Beaton on VAR duty.

Twice in the last 12 months Robertson has been in charge of the Glasgow Derby while Beaton was the man in the middle for Celtic’s Scottish Cup Final win over Inverness Caley Thistle at Hampden.

The Tynecastle clash between the two clubs is traditionally one of the fiercest matches on the fixture list, last season two penalties were awarded to Hearts as VAR was used for the first time in domestic matches.

Robertson has been involved in three previous Celtic matches this season, all away from home including the September Glasgow Derby at Ibrox.

While every match for Celtic appears to be like a cup final Sunday’s match for Steven Naismith’s side completes a highly demanding nine day phase that involves a trip to Ibrox and hosting an Edinburgh Derby.

Matthew MacDermid will referee Celtic’s home match against Dundee on Wednesday night with Euan Anderson on VAR duty.

What is going on with this blog? All you get these days is one sentence..

If you don’t fix this people will stop looking in.

  • Captain Swing says:

Robertson was the one who disallowed the Roofe ‘goal’ at iBrox for Dessers’ foul on Lagerbielke in the build up and had the hun nation spitting rivets for a few weeks though….but I suppose even broken clocks tell the right time twice a day!

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Prepare for thuggery, common assault, all and sundry on Sunday as Robertson Is dangerously lienient im afraid…

Beaton of course will see nothing here, zilch, nada, nada –

We are getting maimed on Sunday if nothing else…

And expect not a cheap form Rodgers, Lord Lucan-Nicholson And Daddy Lawwell either !

  • George Kerr says:

Naismouth has no class, did his job for the Huns. How anyone sees him as a manager is beyond me. The guy is a snide wee runt.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Aye – but watch him suddenly become a very good manager when Celtic rock up at Swinecastle George…

He seemed to become a good manager when he rocked up at Parkhead in December with his Scumbos !

  • Dando says:

Robertson has mastered the Scottish referee training scheme…… Hard v Soft approach.

Watch for it from the 1st minute, the Sevco offspring players rattling into every challenge without redress and the champions of Scotland players getting pulled up for the slightest touch.

Now this is clever officiating as it’s hard to highlight it, well done…..
