Adam Idah’s late winner at Motherwell yesterday earned him a special nickname from one of his Norwich and Ireland team-mates.
At the end of January Shane Duffy and Idah were in the Norwich squad that lost to Liverpool in the FA Cup before Celtic’s need for a striker saw them part company.
Duffy made the same loan move during the nightmare 20/21 season but so far life in Scotland seems to be suiting his pal from Cork, so much so that he was nicknamed King Benzi on Instagram.
Benzi is a reference to Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema, the French striker who spent 14 years at Real Madrid, winning Champions League trophies for fun.
Idah has much more modest ambitions for the moment, finding the net for Celtic and keeping alive the bid to retain the Premiership title.
Already he has notched up two doubles to earn priceless points away from home, four goals at Hibs and Motherwell have kept Celtic within one victory of top spot in the SPFL Premiership- and provided Duffy with some pleasant viewing from afar.
