Atlanta United and Austin FC are reported to be in talks to sign Liel Abada.

The winger has been missing from the Celtic squad for the last three matches despite making six appearances after returning from injury at the end of December.

Brendan Rodgers has discussed the issues that the Israeli winger has with a visible element of the Celtic support flying the flag of Palestine.

It seems highly unlikely that Abada will play again for Celtic with the main issue being over whether he moves out on loan or on a permanent basis.

Israeli website Sport 5 reports:

Atlanta United and Austin FC have expressed interest in Liel Abeda. Both teams playing in the MLS are interested in adding Celtic’s Israeli, who told the team that he no longer wants to be included in the squad after being verbally attacked while walking down the street.

According to sources close to the player, both teams are having talks with his agent right now. Atlanta United are in good terms with Celtic and signed a striker from last year’s team, Giorgos Giakoumakis.

At Atlanta United, the world champion Theo Almeida, 22 years old, and Josh Cohen, a player for Maccabi Haifa, both play. The owner of Atlanta United, it should be noted, is Jewish.

Austin FC, which, like Atlanta, was left out of the play-offs last year, is one of the new teams in the league. Among others, Sebastian Drossi who came from Zenit St. Petersburg and Matt Hedges from Toronto FC play in it.

Abada is even interested in giving up a percentage of future sales that he is entitled to, according to the agreement with Celtic, in order to complete the move.

Next month Israel face Iceland in a European Championship play-off with the winner of that match facing Bosnia Herzegovina or Ukraine for a place in Germany.

A year ago Celtic could have been looking at a fee of £10-15m for Abada but in the current circumstances the fee is likely to be much lower with the hoops probably looking for a substantial sell on fee in any move.

Good. Don’t want a lad with his apparent Israeli brainwashed views in a team who’s support in general support the Palestinian resistance against Israel.

    He is working his ticket.

A sympathetic israeli media outlet quoting – supposedly – interested

    US clubs?

As for ‘being verbaly attacked in the street’?

IF true, then there is a similar probability

that he could be verbally attacked wherever he ends up?

Sounds like he’s just trying to get game time somewhere,

so he has a chance of a squad place if israel qualify for the Euros this summer.

[And what sort of reaction would the Middle Eastern team get from opposition supporters? Their qualification could demean the whole tournament?]

    Hope CFC sit tight.

Nothing should happen until Abada slaps in a written transfer request.

He’s not playing for the club again, and it’s now get the best the deal for the club.

The club has been understanding / sympathetic for several months now.

Why are we still paying this grifter his wages.

I have sympathy for him if he is being abused in the street but it was not expanded on who was abusive towards him and what was the nature of that abuse.

It’s not the first time we have paid someone their full whack who are quite happy to take it with no intention of fulfilling his contractual obligations.

Who’s to say he isn’t affecting team spirit with his hangdog expression around Lennoxtown.

The Celtic support showed him exactly how they felt about him when he first returned from injury……A 60,000 standing ovation.

If he is such a snowflake that he can be mentally affected by a few flags being flown then he’s not fit to wear our jersey anyway.

The sooner he is gone the better, take the reduced fee with a sell on clause of at least 50%.

No doubt l will have to deal with the Anti semitic card being played by the happy clappers in our support, well they can get tae fuck as well, along with their moping maestro.

Probably a junkie, Jake year, alike Sevco Hun that was used and abused with the offer of a bottle of whisky to do it so The Scummy Scottish Football Media would get their anti Celtic ‘story’ as they never got their wet dreams on Sunday !

      • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

For Fcuk Sake – It’s me that sounds like that Sevco junkie, JAKEY and ALKEY (and not Jake year and Alike) as it looks like…

An edit option would be handy !
