Barry Ferguson shares his comical VAR ‘fear’

Barry Ferguson ‘fears’ that VAR could decide the SPFL title race.

If it wasn’t for John Beaton and Don Robertson teaming up at Tynecastle at the start of the month Ferguson’s team would be trailing Celtic by four points, not one.

Almost every fortnight James Tavernier is presented with a penalty kick that would never have been awarded at the other end of the pitch with managers of various clubs highlighting the consistent inconsistencies of VAR.

Less than a week ago it was revealed that Crawford Allan was ‘seeking fresh opportunities’ following a vote of No Confidence in him by Premiership clubs.

Sharing his alternative take on reality with Daily Record readers Ferguson described his excitement for the run in to the title with one big ‘fear’:

It’s why I’m absolutely buzzing for the final couple of months of the Premiership season with some really influential players coming back for both teams at the perfect time.

My only fear? I’ve got to be honest. It’s VAR. Am I concerned a needless decision from the video assistants could have an impact on the title? 100 per cent. I’m worried some crazy decision could happen during one of the key games that will become the talking point.

I go into games now fearing that a dodgy red card or a crazy handball decision in the box is what could be the big talker at full time. I just pray it’s not what’s on everyone’s lips at the end of the title race but the way VAR is going, there’s every chance it could be.

Like a penalty being awarded against Connor Goldson for handball after 18 months of VAR finding various excuses. Or a red card being issued to the former Shrewsbury defender for a Kung Fu attack on a Livingston defender?

On Tuesday morning the SFA will announce the officials for the weekend matches, almost certainly Willie Collum won’t be going to Ibrox for the visit of Hibs.

Tbh I don’t think lil buzzing baz needs to be worried about his chums behind the var curtain givin him sleepless nites,,,

  • Bob (original) says:

    From another angle,

the handling of the whole VAR controversy just reinforces

the widely held belief that the SFA is – at best – wholly incompetent.

A vote of [no] confidence, and the removal of the Head of Refereeing

should have happened ONLY during the summer.

The SFA tw@ts could have scheduled those meetings – and – decisions for

after the season had been completed.

Instead, in the final games of the season,

all the punters can agreee on is that VAR and the way it is

    being managed, is indeed ‘incompetent’.

Additionally, every game and every VAR-related decision [or non-decision],

will be further doubted and queried.

This increased uncertainty applies not just to deciding the title winner,

but Euro places and of course, relegation places.

The certainty is that there’s going to be quite a few VERY unhappy clubs at season end.

Whatever happens: the SFA CEO and Board have also been incompetent

in trying to manage the governance of the senior game in Scotland.

Maxwell should be out on his @rse for that alone, imo.

    🙁

You’re far too nice to them Bob (original)…

It is NOT incompetence whatsoever –

It is out and out BLATENT CHEATING and out and out Blatent Cheating in plain sight at that…

And still Celtic will say and do nothing at all –

      Downright Shameful indeed !

  • Jim says:

We all know Ferguson is not known for his intellect, but REALLY, hasn’t he seen that VAR has been used to
enhance for Sevco,s benefit since the start of the season.

    Barry is a FUD…End of.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

He absolutely is a FUD as you say – But a truthful one on this occasion…

VAR has already put Sevco ahead of Celtic when they win their game in hand (and they will) –

And if Celtic start to finally play some football and become dangerously close to Sevco then put your life savings and mortgage on it that they will definitely decide this most critical of titles…

And it won’t be in favour of Celtic…

It’ll be a second one to Sevco tragically !

Once again i have to repeat it is the people who give his likes a platform who should be jailed for cruelty

  • John Copeland says:

I trust that Ferguson got permission from his wife to make that comment ? After all she is the boss in that household …giving her everything !

  • The Joker says:

Wee Barry Dingle going on about VAR dodgy decisions, just what planet is the glue sniffer on.
Not one decision from VAR has affected the bigoted klub from ibrox.

  • bertie basset says:

barry une biatch !! what a dunce dopey statement , sevco have had 2 penalties agin them in 2 years and all decions in var in their favor from their cheating agents on and off the pitch {beaton } what an eejit !!
