International relief for Rodgers

Cameron Carter-Vickers has been left out of the USA squad for the international double header against Jamaica and then either Mexico or Panama.

The defender has been troubled by injuries all season but did play in the October internationals against Germany and Ghana.

Since the turn of the year Carter-Vickers has only completed one full match, after playing against Hearts he was a late call off against Livingston although he is expected to play against St Johnstone on Saturday.

USA coach  Gregg Berhalter has named a 23 man squad for the matches but his Celtic defender will stay behind to train at Lennoxtown.

There is a 15 day gap between Saturday’s match with St Johnstone and the trip to Livingston but playing on a plastic surface will be a big consideration for Rodgers as he plans his side for the final match before a critical SPFL match at Ibrox.
