Celtic are reportedly close to signing Daniel Kelly onto a new four year contract.

The teenager is out of contract at the end of this year and has came off the substitute bench in the last four matches.

Brendan Rodgers has spoken glowingly about Kelly and the need to bring players through from the Academy with the hoops now struggling to comply with UEFA’s demand to have four club developed players in their 25 man squad for European competitions.

Joseph is a trusted source of Celtic news, based in London working for Sky Sports News but regularly appearing on Celtic fan media podcasts.

Since the start of 2023 Celtic have signed Tomoki Iwata, Odin Thiago Holm, Kwon Hyeok-kyu and Paulo Bernardo to play in midfield but it seems that Rodgers has been impressed by Kelly from his first training sessions after replacing Ange Postecoglou.

After getting some worthwhile first team minutes this season next term will be an interesting one for Kelly with a decision to be taken over whether he is a squad member at Celtic or goes out on loan with a more likely prospect of regular first team football.
