Return To Sender- La Liga dream is over for Ibrox flop Hagi

Ianis Hagi is heading back to Ibrox in the summer to pick up on his contract which runs until May 2025.

The so-called playmaker was sent on loan to Alaves during the summer after falling to eighth choice midfielder at Ibrox behind Todd Cantwell, Nico Raskin, Ryan Jack, John Lundstram, Sam Lammers, Kieran Dowell and Tom Lawrence.

With the Romanian media constantly taking up moves to Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Manchester City the move to Alaves was viewed as the shop window to greater things.

Unfortunately Hagi Junior has only started six matches in La Liga, totalling 607 minutes and zero goals.

It now looks like the Ibrox star won’t make the Romania squad for the European Championships with his Dad clutching at straws as reality bites.

Football Scotland reports Gheorghe saying:

He comes after a year-long injury, don’t forget! So we can’t see Ianis at his best now, but next year we will see him at his best.

He still has a contract with Rangers, he is only on loan at Alaves. So he has a contract with Rangers, that’s for sure. I read that he wouldn’t have wanted Rangers either, which is false.

Hagi suffered a sore knee in January 2022 during a Scottish Cup tie against Stirling Albion, he made is first team return in January 2023 against St Johnstone.

Fourteen months after his comeback his Dad is offering the injury up as an excuse for the 25-year-old failing to make any progress in his career.
