Serious concerns- Celtic announce double challenge to SFA

Celtic have responded quickly to the events at Tynecastle with a two pronged attack on the officiating in the match.

A simple announcement that they were appealing against the 15th minute red card for Yang would be the usual procedure but Celtic followed that up by questioning VAR.

In October 2022 the SFA introduced VAR technology to the domestic game with a burst of fixtures followed by a five week World Cup break to draw breath and review how it was operating.

Strangely the SFA opted to keep communications to a minimum, there was no explanations about how VAR was operating based on live examples where there was confusion between the match official and the office based VAR:

Late this afternoon Celtic stated:

Celtic Football Club can confirm that it will be appealing the red card issued to Hyunjun Yang during Sunday’s match against Hearts at Tynecastle.

We have also written to the SFA to raise our serious concerns regarding the use of VAR and the decisions made within the match.

As we have said before, for some time Celtic has sought to work with the footballing authorities with the aim of improving standards associated with refereeing and the use of VAR in Scotland, something which is clearly in the wider interests of everyone within the game.

While Celtic appeal against the decision on Yang they are likely to find Brendan Rodgers having to answer a disrepute charge for his post match comments.

In various interviews the Celtic boss mentioned John Beaton and questioned his competence even though the final decisions were all on Don Robertson after he had been prompted to review incidents on the VAR monitor.

    Usual pish from our board.
Get your season tickets here and your three strips per season these bonuses won’t pay for themselves.
    Keeping the blue pound safe.
We thought the Kelly’s White’s didn’t like us these cants are at the madam.

Yeah, well done Stephen glad someone else can see it.
John Beaton should never have reffed another Celtic game after saying he was happy with his decisions when Morelos should have received minimum 2 red cards. Celtic complained because the fans were going tonto then Peter Lawwell dropped the complaint after a chat with Beaton and never informed the fans why. That sort of arrogance and cowardness was always going to cone back and haunt us.

I’d love to comment, but for about a week now all I’ve been able to read on any posts by Video Celts is the headline and first paragraph!?! ????

Thanks for the quick reply Joe!??
For too long the Board have sat on their hands over officiating misdemeanours in Scottish football, in particular against Celtic. This matter should also be kept well away from Lawwell. He is a lackie for the Hampden Cartel, will do all he can to prevent their gravy boat from being rocked.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Better than nothing at all, but it’ll be interesting to see if they issue a disrepute charge against Brendan as they sure as night follows day never done it to Baldrick at Liebrox !

  • Captain Swing says:

Like a lawyers ‘cease and desist’ letter. Utterly pointless after the damage is done. The red card will probably be downgraded back to a yellow just to take the p155 out of us.

Celtic had the once in a lifetime chance to reform officiating and governance generally post 2012 but our ‘custodians’ seem to favour locking us into a toxic and parochial ‘0lde f1rm’ rivalry in perpetuity, even if that involves throwing them a few titles to prevent any further insolvency events…..

  • Jack says:

Beaton has got an agenda against Celtic might be he always favours the underdog if you Catherine all footage of him been involved in making decisions against Celtic and show it there is certainly serious concern of cheating and hasvto be looked SFA can not ignore the cancer within scottish football have to copy rugby let supporters know what is getting said between var and ref

It’s been going on for years in one form or another, and everybody knows it. A certain percentage of refereeing officials in Scotland have been aligned with secret organisations. We all know who the secret organisations are, and we also know the percentages are high. I,m old enough to remember officiating in the game as far back as when Jock Stein was manager of Celtic. There were a lot of officials back then who were, shall we say, less than kindly in their decisions against Celtic. And it was a two way street. When the club from across the river, formerly known as Rangers were playing, there were decisions being made in favour of that club that were just jaw dropping. It’s no wonder, in later years, that Martin O’Neil commented, “To win the league, you have to be very good, for Celtic to win the league, they have to be very, very good.”
