Brendan Rodgers has sent out a fresh reminder that his Celtic squad is far too big.

Since the turn of the year Marco Tilio, Mikey Johnston, Kwon Hyeok-kyu and Alexandro Bernabei have been sent out on loan with Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn arriving.

Losing four and gaining two hasn’t weakened the squad with that process likely to continue in the summer although James McCarthy and Yuki Kobayashi demonstrate that it isn’t easy to move players on that were lured in by big contracts.

Kwon never played a single minute for Celtic but is a regular in the St Mirren side looking good for a top six place and chasing their first taste of European football in over 30 years.

Discussing the midfielder and the squad in general, Rodgers told the Glasgow Times:

Again, it’s an opportunity to go and play. We are really pleased. I spoke to Stephen, he needed game time with the squad being too big here.

He is a talented player and hopefully he has gone and shown that and the guys are really delighted with him there.

No matter how well Kwon does at St Mirren in the summer he is likely to find himself behind Tomoki Iwata, Daniel Kelly and Odin Thiago Holm battling to get into the Celtic midfield, a decision has still to be taken on whether to buy Paulo Bernardo at the end of the season.

Last summer Celtic lost Aaron Mooy from midfield and added Holm, Kwon and in the final week of the transfer window Bernardo.

We have got a fantastic ammount of unused talent just sitting there on our substitutes bench.
    £67.3 million worth of it!
Unfortunately, you can’t put a jersey and boots on it and you can’t make it have any influence on the pitch.
    At all!
