Stuart Kettlewell has exposed the double standards of the SPFL as everyone inside Ibrox continues to bleat about Dundee and Dens Park.

A week ago the Motherwell boss was preparing his side for a visit to Dundee against a backdrop of warnings about the state of the pitch.

Rumours were sent out about the venue being switched, the date being switched and even the prospect of playing the match on plastic behind closed doors.

With neither side involved in the Scottish Cup semi-finals next weekend Motherwell suggested putting the match back beyond April 13/14.

That was quickly booted into touch by Neil Doncaster but this week the SPFL have announced that the match between Dundee and the Ibrox Tribute Act will go ahead on April 17 either at Dens Park or shifted to another venue to deny Tony Docherty’s side home advantage.

Yesterday Kettlewell spoke to the media with The Sun reporting:

I wasn’t surprised Rangers’ game was off. I knew the problems with the pitch. I watched the weather forecast and saw everything moving in and the rain was quite clearly going to be a problem but I am a little bit surprised by the chain of events.

Last week, when our game was cast as a major doubt, there were all kinds of things being thrown out there. Some of it was speculation, some was truth.

If it had been off, and with Dundee due to play Rangers next, one thing we’d spoken about was the chance to play it after the split.

That was completely blown out the water and we were told fixtures had to finish pre-split so they could announce fixtures and I’d imagine there would be a TV element in that in terms of announcing live games.

So when everything happened on Wednesday the way it did then I was a little bit surprised.

As well as nominating which referees can be involved in their SPFL matches the Ibrox club are picking the dates when their matches can be played, refusing to play at Dundee on April 3 in order to get a clear week ahead of facing Celtic.

The consequences of that is the possibility of playing Dundee at a neutral venue which has been the goal all along with the Ibrox side on a worrying run of two wins in six matches with those victories coming against Nick Montgomery’s Hibs.

Just give them the league title just now,as everyone and every club is dancing to their tune.
Since nobody has the balls to take them on or challenge them.

Motherwell, Hibs and Aberdeen have all commented on the competence or otherwise of the football authorities here.
But all you’ll get from Celtic is
