Chris Sutton has shown up most of the Scottish media by telling Ally McCoist that he will have to address his promise to commit Hate Crimes at Ibrox on Sunday.

Within 24 hours of explaining his plan to TalkSPORT listeners the former Rangers manager suddenly found himself making alternative plans, there would be no trip to Ibrox after all as a storm brewed on social media.

Steven Bonnar, the SNP MP for Coatbridge called McCoist out for letting the cheeky chappie mask slip but there has been barely any reaction in the mainstream.

In other circumstances Nil By Mouth and Show Racism The Red Card would be battling for the moral high ground but three days on nothing has been heard from either group.

BBC Scotland have completely blanked the entire issue but listening to Sutton speaking to the All Kicking Off podcast, Football Scotland reports the former Celtic striker saying:

He left himself wide open, you know, saying that he along with 48,000 will be committing a breach of the bill in that fixture.

Look, I know Ally well, I’ve worked with Ally a lot. I suspect that his comments may have well been tongue in cheek. But if they weren’t, then you’ve got to say they were pretty reckless, irresponsible comments. Daft, I think his choice of words were clumsy. I know he’s not going to the game.

He’s come out now and said that he’s not going to the game which may have not sort of got him out of it, but his way of getting out of the words which he used. He will have to address this one, I thought his comments were slightly odd in truth.

It seems that McCoist’s hasty decision to walk away has gone down well with TNT Sports, tonight he was covering Chelsea v Manchester United after being on co-commentary duties the previous night at Manchester City’s 4-1 win over Aston Villa.

Still giving him the chance by saying he suspects that McCoist’s comments were tongue in cheek to which McCoist will say they were…

But still the best call out so far from anyone connected with the media –

    Well done Chris !
