Brendan Rodgers was relaxed and cracking jokes after Celtic’s nerve shredding Scottish Cup semi-final win over Aberdeen.

The hoops won the tie 6-5 on penalties after a 3-3 draw against opponents who will now have to turn their attention to escaping from the relegation play off spot.

After going behind in the second minute to a goal from Bojan Miovski Celtic led in the second half and in extra-time but were pegged back by almost identical goals scored by back post headers.

Celtic have had multiple problems with penalties this season but in the shoot out all six outfield players found the net with style.

Joe Hart sent his own penalty against the post but bounced back to push away Cillian Phillips’ effort to book a Hampden return on May 25.

Cup ties are all about progressing but after an impressive recent run in the SPFL Aberdeen exposed a number of defensive weaknesses that are bound to concern Rodgers.

The hoops are back in action a week o Sunday when they face Dundee in the first post split fixture.

Any defender who can’t keep his line (TWICE) at that level should be no where near the Celtic team.

From schoolboy football your told that as soon as a player comes inside the fullback you come out with the line, if Brendan doesn’t replace Scales now, then I fear for the double…..

Worst Celtic side since big Daft Tony

    Only 6 more brutal performances.

  • The Joker says:

The most important thing is we are in the final it wasn’t pretty but we got there.

Now we deserve all the critism that comes our way fir that performance, but once again the bile and hatred from VOMIT FACE Spew Heevins was atrocious today.

He predicted a win for us today through gritted teeth, but when Aberdeen made back to 2-2 this bitter auld guy was willing us on to get beat and to lose the match, now as I said yes we had been but for that auld fart to run us into the ground like that, that was nothing but spite.

Sevco have 2 worse results than us in their last 2 games and he never destroyed them the way he did to our team today.

Even when it went to penalties SSB team all had Celtic players going up to take the penalty as oh he has missed them before every player for us taking a penalty was being cursed to miss it.

Then back to VOMIT FACE and his sick bucket he had said earlier if it goes I don’t facy Celtic with their record, another pundit said to him and what Aberdeen’s record with penalties,oh a don’t know about them.

Somebody needs to tell dopey his predictions are atrocious.

Well said Joker. The only good thing about old Spew being that negative about us in-game is that his predictions are always shite. Being backed by him would be like being told Liz Dingbat Truss was giving us her full support.

I have no idear what that display was about today. They were slow, the defending was shocking and overall it was a lacklustre performance. If that was us now finding or mojo and starting to perform to our capabilities at this crucial stage of the season then I fear the worst. It was excruciating to watch and quite frankly, if we had lost we couldn’t have had any complaints as we shot ourselves in the foot over and over again. Let’s hope that’s awake up call for them to get there act together and that’s the last dire performance we’ll have to witness. On the plus side we won eventually. Onwards and upwards from here on in.

  • Charlie Green says:

Scales is getting all the criticism but if you actually watch him he is the only one carrying the ball forward and doing the midfields job as opposed to the likes of McGregor who prefers to pass it 3 yards and then comically point to where that guy should play it.
If scales has regressed from his time at Aberdeen it is down to the Celtic coaches.
They need a time and motion man in to see who the real chancers are. Hatate is capable of the unique pass but around 90% of his passes fail compete.
    Yang!
There are a few before we get to Scales.

    We need a goalkeeper now!

  • the maister says:

Scales would be better at left back. He just ain’t got the quality at Centre-Half!
I hate to say it; but it is glaringly obvious!
Two identical goals from balls pumped in at him nearly undone us today.
Had we not won on penalties, there would have been a hell of a lot of very dissapointed fans at that match!
