Having lifted the Scottish Cup 41 times Celtic’s history with the competition covers dozens of plots, sceanrios and twists. Yesterday a fresh one was added as they came through almost every drama imaginable to reach the 2024 Scottish Cup Final on May 25.

Nothing will ever truly do justice to what unfolded over 120 plus minutes that moved into penalties with Joe Hart emerging as the hero as he extended his career by one more match.

A second minute goal from Bojan Miovsky served notice that Aberdeen had left their SPFL form at Pittodrie as they aggressively pressed at Celtic with the hoops unable to find their recent rhythm.

The match ebbed and flowed, Nicolas Kuhn equalised, James Forrest came off the bench to put Celtic in front but there was a sting in the tail when Ester Solker headed a back post equaliser.

A well worked goal in extra-time from Matt O’Riley should have taken Celtic through but in the 119th minute Angus MacDonald headed another equaliser to send the match into a penalty shoot-out.

Joe Hart had the chance to win the tie for Celtic but hit the post, Alistair Johnston and Tomoki Iwata then converted before Hart the Hero saved from Cillian Philipps to book a return to Hampden next month.

Great putting a link to the highlights up JM. Strangest game I’ve ever attended. If Joe Hart’s penalty miss had been decisive, you bet Keevins, English and thier lot would have had a field day today.

Thankfully, that didn’t materialise. Away from the football though. The national stadium? What a joke getting to and from that ground. Every direction gridlocked with traffic lights.

Why can’t they switch the lights off along the main arterial routes and put cops on point duty instead. The traffic would move much move quickly. The nearest train station is too small and not sufficient to get the fans away quickly. Think it’s just the local service trains and no special train for football passengers.

An insufficient parking facilities. I was getting dropped in by car and left 2 hours before kick-off for what’s normally a twenty minutes journey. Took over an hour. I was getting a lift back into town after. Stayed inside the stadium for an hour and when I got out. The place still totally gridlocked. After sitting in my friend’s car for half an hour, have moved about 100 metres, I felt bad as I was taking him out his way further, albeit he was stuck. But I didn’t want to delay him further, so I got out and walked the 2.2 miles to Rutherglen station.

The worst location for a major sporting venue in Scotland. Anyway, cup games are often full of surprises, so don’t see much need in dissecting our play. We got there in the end. And I’d keep playing Forrest in that role til he’s 37.

He may not have 90 minutes in him, but the wee man is so often a game changer. If he stays fit, we can bring him on and he can play like that for years. The Celtic version of a kicker in American Football. Mon the Hoops
