QPR, Portsmouth and Derby County are reported to be keen on signing Bosun Lawal.

The 20-year-old has just ended a loan spell at Fleetwood Town that seemed to pick up greatly after he was switched from central defence to playing as a defensive midfielder.

Scott Brown took Lawal to the League One side at the start of the season but after a brief spell with Lee Johnston in charge it seems that Charlie Adam was able to get the best out of the loan signing.

Despite Fleetwood being relegated to League Two it seems that Lawal’s performances made an impact with the two sides that gained automatic promotion, Derby County and Portsmouth linked with the 20-year-old.

Veteran reporter Alan Nixon specialises in transfer tales, writing in The Sun he reveals:

QPR are leading the chase for Celtic’s Republic of Ireland prospect Bosun Lawal.

The Championship side want to do a deal with the Hoops, who are taking Lawal back after his loan spell at Fleetwood Town.

Portsmouth are also keen on a loan for the midfielder, who impressed in League One this season.

Newly-promoted Derby County are also watching developments after the 20-year-old’s standout displays.

Brendan Rodgers is set to give Lawal a chance to impress in pre-season this summer but another loan deal is still a possibility if Celtic feel he would benefit from more experience.

After two seasons playing in central defence in the Lowland League it seems that Lawal has flourished at Fleetwood which was the intention of the loan.

Whether that is enough to get into the mix at Celtic remains to be seen, even if Matt O’Riley is sold in the summer Brendan Rodgers still has Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate, Tomoki Iwata, Odin Thiago Holm and Daniel Kelly playing for the midfield roles with an option on Paulo Bernardo.
