The Celtic World podcast has a genuine WORLD EXCLUSIVE with barman Michael sharing some video clips from Saturday’s Scottish Cup semi final when Dermot Desmond dropped in to see how his team got on.

Celtic’s largest shareholder seems to spend most of his time in the Caribbean and North America but for whatever reasons he was in the Italian capital at the weekend while the hoops were in action at Hampden.

Like almost all fans abroad on matchday searching for somewhere to watch the game the local Irish pub is usually a good shout with Celtic’s largest shareholder deciding to watch the action from Glasgow in the company of some friends.

It turned out to be a long session for the Dubliner but there was a happy conclusion when Joe Hart dived to his left to save the penalty from Cillian Phillips to see Celtic through to next month’s final.

Desmond will probably be at Hampden for that match with the team from Celtic World dotted around the globe hoping to witness success but hopefully not via another epic penalty shoot out.

DD doesn’t do himself any favours or perhaps he doesn’t give two hoots? He should’ve made it his priority to be seen at Hampden on Sat..

I’m sure that Desmond does care for the club and I can fully understand being in Rome, wanting to see the game and finding an Irish Pub to watch it in. He might own Celtic TV but that doesn’t mean he’ll have it to hand everywhere he goes.

I can’t help but feel he’s taken a huge gamble this year by not using his money to strengthen the side. If we do manage to win the league, he’ll be feeling as though ‘I told you so’ but full credit for me would have to go to Brendan Rodgers, not the board in any way shape or form.

It’s very much in the balance and my feeling is that it never needed to be this close, had we aimed higher and strived to compete better at CL level by strengthening.
