James Bisgrove is demanding that Dundee pay compensation for two ‘wasted’ nights accommodation in St Andrews as Sevco reignite the controversy over the state of the Dens Park pitch.

Glasgow to Dundee is a distance of 81 miles which can be covered in two hours, it is doubtful if Dundee feel the need for the extravagance of a Glasgow hotel stay whenever they go to Celtic Park or Ibrox.

On March 17 Philippe Clement’s side were pitchside when Don Robertson called the match off two hours before kick off shortly after Benfica had won at Ibrox in the Europa League.

Bisgrove refused to play the rearranged match on April 3 in order to give Clement’s squad a full week to prepare to face Celtic, when the match was postponed on the afternoon of April 10 it kicked off all sorts of anger after Todd Cantwell and the lads spent another night in a hotel less than two hours from Glasgow.

The Sun reports:

RANGERS have demanded a five-figure compensation sum from Dundee over the two postponements at rain-hit Dens Park.

SunSport can reveal Gers want reimbursed for the cost of their two pre-match stays in St Andrews — as well as their travel expenses.

Sky Sports have already won their compensation fight after incurring costs in excess of £30,000 for two aborted broadcasts in March and April.

Now Gers have taken moves to recoup their expenses from Dee managing director John Nelms.

Dundee have already been fined £150,000 — with £120,000 of the figure suspended — after breaching Hampden rules on the condition of their playing surface.

They were also ordered to fork out £36,429.60 “as compensation to the SPFL for television and pitch specialist costs”.

Following the second postponement Clement’s side lost away to Ross County then at the third time of asking they drew 0-0 at Dens Park to go into the post split fixtures trailing Celtic by three points.

Clement blamed the disruption caused by the second postponement of the Dundee game for his side’s limp performance in Dingwall, three days later they turned in a similar display in the 0-0 draw at Dens.

The compensation claim against Dundee looks like yet another action to appeal to angry bears online and deflect attention away from the failings of A Proper Football Manager and his squad.

Going into the first scheduled match at Dundee most bears had calculated that their side would go into the split five points clear of Celtic but draws against the hoops and Dundee either side of losing at Ross County has changed the landscape entirely.

Tony Docherty’s side are three points behind St Mirren in the battle for a place in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers with the two sides meeting tomorrow at Dens Park.

Dundee visit Ibrox on April 14 and are unlikely to be short of motivation.

As ever the new team show unsurpassed class and dignity in their pathetic claim, likely stayed in a cramped Airbnb while claiming for the old course hotel.

  • Conn Mann says:

Why St. Andrews, 14 miles away, where hotel prices are at the higher end and amongst the most expensive in Scotland. A high standard hotel in or around Dundee could have been secured for half the price. Typical deluded tramps, that still think they are a top club.

Zombies are so shameless.. daddy gers shaft HUNdreds of businesses for HUNdreds of £mullions and son sevco complains about a few grand:-/

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Perhaps it’s because Celtic are by country miles the most GRAND old team to play for (ie. the most successful club in Scotland and Brit land) – that they need the feeling of attempting to try to steal a few GRAND to be relevant to Celtic as in the word GRAND…

As that’s the only connection that I can see as they’re not grand in any status or stature !

  • Dando says:

Dundee should counter claim for losses on the 3rd due to Sevco demanding a postponement.
